We haven't seen Canada coach one game in the SEC so no one knows how explosive or if LSU will be explosive offensively. I like the hire a lot but I don't get how people automatically think we are going to be this high powered explosive offense in year one of the system.
Last year was his first year at Pitt. He was the only offensive Broyles award candidate. He played in a conference that included teams like Florida State, Clemson, Miami, Louisville, etc and still was able to accomplish what he did.
Even if he doesn't do as well at LSU as he did at Pitt, chances are it will still be a HELL of a lot better than anything LSU has seen in a while.

I hope you are right because I sure am ready to see a functioning passing game and an offense that will attack weaknesses.

The better question is how quickly will this board explode when the OC keeps running jet sweeps that aren't gaining a yard?
As long as the unsuccessful jet sweeps open up long runs for Guice, passes over the middle to the H-backs, long bombs to the WR and also leads to possibly scoring close to 40 points per game, I can handle the board's explosion.
If the jet sweep is totally unsuccessful against a team, that is a GREAT thing for LSU. When a defense sells out to stop the jet sweep it will open up two or three other things for the LSU offense to exploit. Runs up the middle, shovel passes up the middle, passes down the sideline or over the middle, etc, etc, etc.
The jet sweep is an offensive weapon, no doubt, but it also gives the defense another play that they must defend or get their butts kicked if they don't. Canada's been doing it long enough that he should be able to recognize what the defense is doing and adjust appropriately to beat them somewhere else. This AINT Cam Cameron's offense any longer.
Here is one other play the jet sweep opens up. The video will open at the beginning of the play - which is right after the offensive tackle scores a TD on a running play.

Please tell me you don't think Bama is the only team with a "roided up" line?
Well, seeing how our o-line couldn't get any push against them the last couple of years, we should know they have not been "roided up".

Yeah, I looked at his chart and thought "DAMN" and then wondered how he could look at that and somehow think of Gary Crowton.

They will ignore this. They will also ignore the 2014 winner.

Because Canada's offenses have averaged a finish of 52.6, and you keep pimping him finishing 10th last year, but he only finished (around) that highly once before. Also, like has been said, Crowton was a finalist for the Broyles award. Canada's numbers, minus last year, scream mediocrity.

I'm sure there were others also.

Uh, for this board's sake, let's just stick to the fact that he was a Broyles Award candidate.
Thanks

Because Canada's offenses have averaged a finish of 52.6
Could be because of the many different versions of his offense he has used.
quote:
“There was nothing about him. It was all about the team,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said of what impressed him Tuesday in his interview with Canada. “‘Coach, I’ll do whatever it takes to win. I want to come in here and be a team player. I want to adjust to the personnel that we have and run a great offense.’”
quote:
It’s easy to find evidence of that statement in Canada’s track record through the years. There might be some common trends, but the overriding theme was that he always looked to maximize his team’s strengths, whether that meant running more often or chucking the ball all over the field.
quote:
This season at Pittsburgh, he ran the ball 63 percent of the time behind an offensive line that has three All-ACC performers and two running backs with 1,000-yard seasons on their resumes: James Conner and Qadree Ollison.
quote:
In other seasons, Canada’s tendencies are all over the map.
In his four seasons as offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Indiana, there were seasons when the Hoosiers had the Big Ten’s top passing attack.
The next season at Northern Illinois, Canada helped the Huskies win the MAC title by relying on the dual-threat skills of quarterback Chandler Harnish, the only player at his position to rank in the nation’s top 25 in rushing
at Wisconsin, he shifted to a power running game with three future NFL backs – Montee Ball (1,830 yards, 22 TDs), James White (806 yards, 12 TDs) and Melvin Gordon (621 yards, 3 TDs) – prompting the Badgers to run the ball nearly 70 percent of the time.
Canada went back to a balanced spread in three seasons at NC State,
“Our offense hasn’t changed. The philosophy hasn’t changed. What’s changed, if you look at the places I’ve been, has been the players,” Canada said.

It's also been said he won a national championship at LSU. Broyles Award finalist, national championship at LSU. I think you're on to something here. Good job.
Yeah, being an LSU fan and looking at his average scoring per game and the yardage per game in your chart gets me excited.
