Muschamp had a good run.

Most consistent was probably chief even tho the last few years left a bad taste in fans mouth.

Muschamp. Aranda could eventually be better.

Chavis was the best we ever had. Were just afraid to admit it.

Outside of Aranda, I'd say Bo Pelini. He had some defenses that were just straight up mean and nasty.

The defenses under Arnsparger were damn stout, too. I have no idea who the coordinator was, since it didn't matter - kinda like being a coordinator under Li's Nicky.

Charles McClendon. yes, he was the HC but he was the de facto def. coordinator. the man was a defensive genius.

Come on now, you have to admit the chief was a bit overrated. He is Notorious for blowing last minute drives with that putrid bend but don't break defense. I couldn't stand that shite.

Pelini was pretty good.

Saban of course, as much as I can't stand the guy, he's a defensive guru. He runs the defense, everyone knows that. It doesn't matter if it's Kirby Smart, Muschamp, Pruitt...... Saban runs the defense.

Chief was good but

that. Happened not a lot but more frequently than we all would've liked.

Without being persuaded by others...the only answer is Nick Saban.
