about TQ, he has shown ability to slash to the goal in a few games. He hasn't done it often but when he does take it to the hoop he can finish.

I'm hoping Coleman will pull his head from beyond and get back in the game. He needs to play 30-35 quality mins for us to beat anybody decent.

You do know that there are only 40 minutes in a college game, right?

The difference in Hammink and Morgan is Morgan had SOME ability to score where as Hammink has zilch. Morgan's shooting numbers this year have definitely been miserable but there's been those games where he can get to the hoop and throw in 4-6 points, Hammink just doesnt have that.

I disagree with this. The difference between Morgan and Hammink offensively imo is that Morgan has more confidence than Hammink. Morgan has also been given more of an opportunity thus far than Hammink so who knows how Hammink would be at this point in the season with Morgan's minutes. Both players have displayed poor outside shooting and both guys have been able to get into the lane occasionally. Hammink has been a relatively effective defender and rebounder in limited action. He's also gotten into the lane and used his body to score a few baskets around the hoop. He also finishes his drives at the rim whereas Morgan at times pulls up halfway and throws up some sort of running floater that goes in as much as it doesn't. I think the main upside to Hammink is that he has mostly played within himself and has arguably not forced things enough. Considering he'll likely be the 4th or 5th scoring option when he's in the game, this can be a good thing for the team going forward. I think if he can contribute solid minutes as a defender and rebounder predominantly and can continue to not turn the ball over, he'll be a great asset to this team. If he can get comfortable offesnively and become more aggressive, I don't see why he can't contribute 5-10 points per game in 10-20 minutes of action. Let's not all forget that he played laudibly with no turnovers in extended minutes of action againast UMASS. Comparitive stats of Morgan and Hammink from that UMASS game are below, which suggest that Hammink played equally as well as Morgan in that game and arguably better stat wise. The difference is that he has not been afforded the same opportunities sinec so his potential contributions remain mostly unknown.

Hamink 13 minutes, 1-2 from the field, 1 for 1 from the line, 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 fouls, 2 assists, 0 turnovers

Morgan 13 minutes, 0-2 from the filed, 1 for 2 from the line, 1 point, 1 rebound, 4 fouls, 3 assists, 1 steal, 0 turnovers

Missing him big time

When you look back and see how last years team was able to accomplish so much with so little, you really have to give him credit don't you? He was a huge part of our press and trap. But mostly very high BB iq and a leader.

I still think Coleman and Stringer should exclusively play the 2 and Hickey/Quarterman the 1. Quarterman will just have to be an exclusive 1 now IMO and let Martin/Hammink have the minutes at the 3. I think Martin's minutes may have to go up more than anyone's with the injury to Morgan...because we really dont want Hammink playing 15 minutes a game.
I would respectfully disagree. I think Coleman/Stringer are two of our best players and I wouldn't want them to have to solely divide minutes between them. On offense, Coleman is more of a pure 3 than a 2. CJJ has started playing him at two for the zone defense mainly.

Quarterman is getting better and has scored more and shot better as of late. He still gets that freshman blank look every once in a while and plays accordingly but not nearly as often.

Hammink is a puzzle. In early games as a freshman he was shooting lights out from three and then when SEC started he disappeared. I really think he is capable. He just lacks confidence. You can see it everytime he gets on the court. He is afraid to be aggressive at all. He won't have to play 15 minutes unless there is foul trouble. More like 8 to 10.

Having watched Shane a lot over the past 2 years in practice and at games, I've noticed that he's a bit blasé. He's definitely a sort of goof off. Happy-go-lucky personality. I think that makes him not pay attention in practice which shows on the court. Any lack of confidence seen is maybe due to that.

He has talent as a shooter and a driver, but I still think he's used to the Euro style of play which is less physical.

IMO more playing time and more intensity in practice will see a big improvement in Shane. He brings a different offensive playing style and if he does improve the way I hope, he'll be entertaining to watch, and a big help to our team..

Agreed. He did super well guarding Henderson in the first half.

Definitely agree with this.

Hammink's defense & 3-point shot are his tickets to more PT IMO. He's a good defender, but he needs to prove he's a threat to defenses when he's on the court. Offensively, it's almost like it's 4 versus 5 when Hammink is in the game. Would be great if he would test the defense every now and then. He's a capable shooter.

Shane "The Glove" Hammink

It would be nice if he hit some open jumpers and took some guys off the dribble.
