Collins was a freak but doesn't have the resume.

That's the thing, he did not ask who has the best resume? He asked who is the best back?

Imo that is pretty easy and its Cecil. Based off of ability and what he did on the field. KF would be a close 2nd.

As someone mentioned before, he did it with very little around him.

Yeah, he only ran behind one of the greatest guards in NFL history and a Center that started for over a decade in the NFL.

As far as the best in history the only names that need to be in the conversation are Faulk, Hilliard, Cannon, and maybe Cecil Collins

So the guy who is like 4th all time in the SEC doesn't warrant being in the discussion (Charles Alexander)? People here don't know how good that cat was.

Cecil collins played about 4 fricking games in his career. They were against auburn, vandy, akron, and miss st. Yet, some of you think that is more impressive than the careers of Steve Van Buren, Charlie Alexander, and Jerry Stovall. Get a fricking clue people.

Also, Jimmy Taylor's in the fricking Pro Football Hall of Fame. Perhaps Powe rman should Google him before so quickly dismissing him from this conversation.

Dominates? Really?

Hester
364 rushing attempts
1730 yards
20 tds

DD

455 rushing attempts
2056 yards
20 tds

Chuck Scott
434 rushing attempts
2317
32 tds

Hester leads both in catches and yards.

You would think a criteria of naming somebody nest back ever would be at least ALIVE when they played.

There isn't a tougher sob I'd want on my team carrying the ball than Hester.

Bunch of young bucks in here I think. I love Kevin Faulk as much as the next guy, but to say he did it with nobody around him is laughable.
Alexander was a 2 time consensus All-American, has the single season LSU record, and is in the top 5 or so all time in the SEC. It is him and Faulk in the discussion as far as I am concerned.

You need to get a fricking clue. I've seen Cecil Collins from his freshman year at Leesvile. (He was in our district). That guy was a special talent, and you could tell from just watching the guy in warm ups. If he had a good head, no doubt in my mind he would've been an NFL Hall of Famer.

and davis had great return stats, had over 1000 total yards all 4 years, including over 2K his senior year. hester had 1 productive year

scott has a significant edge in both yards and TDs

Its Cool bro, no need to take into consideration the stats, even though you brought it up and I just provided them.

Babe Ruth one player.
You said you could name ten... Half of them you named you werent even born when they played.
So yeah, it does matter.

Cannon. Our big playmaker during the 1958 national championship run and Heisman winner the following season in 1959. 2 of the most important accomplishments in LSU football history, back to back.

Oh yeah, he played defense too.

My personal opinions only:

Best - Hillard

Most fun to watch - Harvey Williams/Sammy Martin

Sentimental favorite - Terry Robiske (from Edgard I think)

Are you this fricking stupid on purpose?
Follow along and I'll explain this to you like I would to a small child.
You said the stats dominate.
I said they didn't, soi posted them.
Which in most people that have eyes would agree they don't.

However you go into some gibberish rant about return yards on special teams which don't have dick to do with running back.

Fact is kid, Hester has as many tds as dd in damn near 100 less cArries and 300 less yards.
Cscott had 500 more yards in about 80 more carries.

You're right I'm the idiot.
Stick with the saints bro.
