Tajh weighs about as much as a cornerback. He won't be able to withstand a season of that kind of pounding. He'll have to share it with Kwon

Personally, I haven't seen anything that proves Welter can get the job done. I think that Barrow needs to man the middle. Was hoping that Melvin was the guy...but they seem to think he fits the offense better.ML is the only position I'm really concerned with.

Lamar at MLB coming in at 215 and Tahj flanking him at 205 is gonna be interesting. Both have good speed, could give spread type offenses and dual threat QBs hard time.

But against Ga. and Blather...our DTs Freak and Fergie had better stay healthy...those small LBs are going to see what they are made of...

Either way, I think he is in the rotation cause they cant keep him off the field

They'll rotate 5-6 backers throughout the course of a game depending on situation.

Louis started 5 games last year and played in another 4 or 5 and finished the season with 13 tackles. He was just a body on the field ala Luke Muncie and Boonie Francois

You also have not seen anything that says welter can't get itt done. It's an unknown at this time and I don't put a lot into spring games. We just have to trust chief on this one. If welter can't hang I doubt he starts very long.

Seeing that the MLB has to "quarterback" the defense that is ABSOLUTELY a reason for him to start.

I thought Barrow moved to MLB?

He did but I think they wanted his cover skills outside.

Welter has MLB right now. I don't know if that's permanent or not but I do know that Lewis was getting his arse chewed the other day by chavis for not going full speed in practice.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Lewis was the eventual MLB but chavis wanted to light a fire under his arse by putting him on second team.

You're an idiot. We need discipline at a position like that. Talent alone does only so much and then you slip up and let the RB break a long one.

I'm no linebackers coach, but I always thought moving Lamin inside would give this team the best lineup and subs with the quality OLB we have. I also don't think Tahj can sniff Kwon's jock strap. Don't see how he starts over Kwon.

When you have experience at OLB like we do, I dont think it's as important. Barrow should know the calls, Louis played alot as a freshman. Kwon has some starts. Tahj is a SR. Debo got some PT last year, hell Feist got in a good bit but apparently pissed off the coaches for something, haven't heard his name at all.

Our LBs should know the system. We need the most talented 3 on the field.

I really hope by mid-season kwon flips with tahj, and Beckwith pushes Louis and welter to the bench. 6'3 246 and fast and strong and smart? I can't understand how he isn't there already. Chavis knows best though.

I thought if Barrow stayed outside that Fiest or Beckwith would take over at MLB. I didnt see Lamar Louis moving inside though.

See, I'm somewhat in agreement with you in that I'd love to see Lamin, Kwon, and Beckwith all on the field at the same time, but I think that exposes us in pass coverage if an OLB needs to flank out. Kwon would obviously be that guy in that group, and I don't think he's as good at it as some of our other options. I think Chavis likes having at least one smaller OLB in there for that purpose.

Still, it's a catch 22 because those 3 are as talented LBs as you can find on any team. With Debo, Louis, Tahj, and Duke all waiting on the sidelines, it's an exciting problem to have.

There's this little thing called the Rant that was made just for questions like this. People who don't care about questions like this have no reason to be on the Rant.

Now, I can understand why a true frosh that wasn't an EE is not the starting MLB. Way too much to be in charge of and soak up in this short amount of time.

I was thinking more Kwon (Will), Lamin (Mike), Beckwith (Sam). But this is probably way off as Beckwith outweighs Lamin by a good bit.
