White helmet, Purple jerseys, white pants

Because the gold white golds are something we've literally worn for 60 years, save the late 80s and early 90s. They're also classic and clearly timeless. They're one of the greatest uniforms in sports. I also extremely enjoy how LSU is (almost) unique in that we wear white at home. It's just another weird thing that sets us apart like H style goal posts and 5 yard markers.

Makes it easy to spot the LSU fans who love toonces.

People are going way overboard with the praise for this Jersey. It's not THAT good imo. It's new, it has a novelty factor, white helmet, etc.

I have no problem with it being a time to time switch up, but I personally love the gold, purple, gold combo and we wear that limited enough times as it is.

The white, purple, white just feels less like LSU to me. I think once the novelty factor wears off people will come back down to Earth on these unis.

I hate that we've become like so many other schools and have all these different uniforms. Home uniforms and away. We don't need to wear gold for the first SEC home game and all the other "traditions" the athletic dept is trying to create. I know they would like to create something like Penn State's white out game but the fans will NEVER cooperate.

I'm a uniform nerd and this has been a problem for nearly 20 years, in that LSU has allowed the pants to have additional striping but does not have the jersey or helmet striping match.

Back in the 1980's, the uniforms were just three stripes. Helmet and pants matched and the jersey was the reverse.



Sometimes in the late 90's I think they added additional striping to the pants but did not fix the helmet to match. Pants started added a gold stripe in-between the purple and white so instead of three stripes there's five.



Strangely, the only time the bother to fix this is for the alternate we're wearing this Saturday. finally the helmet and pants match...but they wait until they're white to do it. But, the jerseys are still three stripes...



I did this quickly last year. to show what the jersey would look like with that additional thin stripe when purple...



All that being said, I agree. LSU's gold/white/gold has become iconic and should always remain the main uniform for us. However, just as there has been tweaks even to this uniform over the years, there needs to be another one...and that's to either go back to the simple three stripes on all pieces or move all pieces to the five stripes. Seems it would be a simple fix and I'm not quote sure why they've never done it.
