if they transfer to another school?
If a state does not do it, will the NCAA?

Pro sports have salary caps. There needs to be a cap on NIL.
The NIL cash seems a lot like "legal" bribery.

Those are private funds, contractually agreed upon by player and whichever person/company. I’m not sure a state can mandate that.

States//schools have nothing to do with NIL… NIL is between a player and an outside business entity

Pro sports don’t have a cap on how much a player can make off the field through endorsements.

Looks like chicken has been doing his research and is in the works to sign his first athlete.

This seems like a gray area. If a 5 star goes to Jackson State his NIL will be less valuable than if the same player goes to a school like LSU.
The player + school image = the total image of the player.
More name exposure at LSU than a lower type school.

A critical part of all of this is whether or not the players are fulfilling their contracted NIL services…and the intent to put controls on them.

Could you image the type of money Joe Burrow would have made locally during the championship run in 2019?

I mean chances are the players who are accepting NIL money are signing contracts with those entities paying them.

The issue so far hasn't been players leaving current NIL deals for better ones. The issue has been players leaving with no deal for one, or after picking the best deal.

Money is money. $1mm at JSU is the same as $1mm at LSU. Now taxes and COL are different in Jackson, compared to Baton Rouge or Los Angeles.

Steph curry went to Davidson. Doubt most people here even know where that is located. Now has one of the biggest shoes deals of all time. Lebron and Ronaldo have lifetime deals with Nike for an estimated billion dollars. Neither went to college. Companies don’t care where you go to school as long as you help move inventory.

Imagine being this naive

NIL is almost entirely controlled by the states right now.

Not Alabama. They have no professional sports teams.

What you describe is not a gray area, it is coincidental.

A state being able to void and alter private contracts seems like a great idea but I think I would choose to live in a different state.

Which Aggie player will have a tax issue once they spend too much and don’t make the NFL to pay it off?

If Raising Canes is giving money to an LSU player, I guarantee that it is in there that the moment the player isn't an LSU Tiger, the contract is terminated.

Would your current employer ask you to repay what you earned while employed if you got another job?

Man that would be awesome.

Because that would be a big NCAA violation. Scholarship reduction, players ineligible, postseason ban, and show clauses.

Lol.

All kidding aside.

NIL deals cannot be tied to a school or how much a player plays. That would be a pay to play contract and a big no no with the NCAA.

Is there a cap where you work? Is there a law preventing you from working two jobs or having outside investments?
