My only point was that there have been some serious clock blunders by other notable coaches that people tend to ignore while bashing our guy. Makes no sense.

Why would we care about what other coaches have done? They have no bearing on LSU game management.

how does that justify a $ 4MM salary

..would you get raises if you only performed at your job 80% of the time ?

for a lower salary and a smaller school, that may work, but not here...

that's a "B" grade for an "A" salary

besides, the 80% is purposely misleading...
it ignores the "blunders"

Miles has done some good things, but also some things that do not go with a $4MM salary.

Miles salary is in line with his accomplishments with regard to his peers. Kirk fing ferentz makes 3.6 mill and big game bob makes over four. Miles has accomplished mpfar more than ferentz and close to bob in a tougher conference.

Even if 4 or 5 of those are bona fide "gimme wins" every year?

I would hope we are not paying the man big bucks to beat the Ole Miss' and Towson's of the world. He gets paid to beat other teams with coaches making that much money...and to win MNC's.

1/9 is the worst for how much it meant

ole miss the whole play calling on the last drive, the not realizing we should call a timeout 30 seconds earlier and then the spike and lie about it.

4, 2, 3, 1.

And these are but a sampling of Mile$' stellar work at LSU.

But let's stop looking backward and instead anticipate all the future moments of coaching stupidity that Le$ will gift us with in the future. Yes, Mile$ is guaranteed to give us SO MUCH MORE!

This was largely disproven long ago. At least one camera angle of this play clearly shows Miles pointing at the ground where Tolliver is lying down, attempting to signal to the referees that Tolliver made the catch and was down so the clock needed to be stopped RIGHT THEN (although the refs still let an additional 2 seconds melt off any way). From that camera angle, Miles is clearly pointing at the spot of the tackle. Meanwhile, Jefferson was standing back around the 40 yard line, much too far back behind Miles to be signaled to (such as to "clock" the ball). If you watch closely, Miles often makes similar hand gestures during games, and LSU has never "clocked" it after the other times that he has done that.

No coaching was going to fix that QB

That's why every other coach would have at least tried another QB, or hell, both other QBs at some point, instead of sticking with the same idiot who clearly wasn't going to do anything that day. It may not have worked, but you don't know unless you try.

Stupidity by coaches from other teams doesn't bother me. It is amusing however.

Stupidity by our staff, no matter how many incredibly wonderful things they do in other areas, needs to stop if we are going to be better. Just do what players are asked to do- learn from mistakes and don't make them again.

re: Which Miles blunder is the most egregious? (Posted on 1/10/13 at 11:28 a.m. to In The Hunt) I really don't care about the waning seconds of Ole Miss 2009. That game LSU was dominated and ole miss was better and deserved to win. I don't hate on Miles for not pulling out the miracle victory. My bigger issue was why LSU was in that position in the first place. LSU should never be dominated by ole miss.
