Calm down guy. It'll be ok. Just tell us how you got your rumor and everyone will think you're super cool and in the know within LSU athletics. Don't blow an o-ring.

Because I'm definitely trying to level up with a bunch of 20 yr old kids.

Well then you should know better then to act like a complete a-hole.

I said earlier in the thread:

I had a whole discussion about this with one of the lead auditors

Now you got me all riled up before I go to bed. Thanks for that.

Brady's teams over achieved, but got absolutely no fan support.

The in-thing among LSU geeks during the Brady years was to pull against LSU basketball in order to get Brady fired, and they got what they wanted.

LSU got rid of a coach, but gained a reputation that LSU would not support our basketball program. As a result, the best in-state talent would not sign with LSU any longer.

Without fan support, recruiting became impossible at the end of Brady’s tenure. The haters had won, but they had poisoned our basketball recruiting program.

If a college fan base refuses to support the program, it doesn't matter how good the coach is, he will not succeed.

Since I'm late backing up this part...I used to work for LSU in Finance and Management. I had a whole discussion about this with one of the lead auditors. It was something about the way the assistant coaches were paid that made it basically a cash grab. Basketball wasn't the only ones. Skip Bertman made a ton of money off it also. From what I was told, it led to how they were handled differently. Take that FWIW but the info is solid.

yeah, skip bertman only showed up for picture day and to speak during lunch. i went to his baseball camp probably 7 or 8 times when i was younger, and that was the case every year. turtle thomas, beattle bailey, boots garland, players, and various coaches around the city/state did all the hands on coaching. bertman was just the figure head. and yeah, i'm sure bertman made bank on the whole deal. i still had a great time, though, so i'm not complaining.

As far as the camps go, Skip hired smoke because he would share the camp with him. We could have hired the Alabama coach at that time but Skip would not budge on the camp dollars. As far as Brady goes he used camp funds to help his assistants which is pretty common amongst coaches in the country. The powers that be could see the team was playing better towards the end, plus Chris Johnson was coming back so they fired him before he made another run like he had done in the past. After the last four years I am sure it didn't work out quite the way they thought it would, having the worst run in LSU bb history. I said when Brady was fired it would set us back five years, and it looks like it may be six. Thank God for TCU.

He made the Sweet 16 twice, 2000 and 2006.

Chizek was used, pure and simple.

I'm pretty convinced of this.

With the exception of 2010, Chizik was punching above his weight class the whole time. 5-19 in two seasons at Iowa State is NOT an SEC caliber coach.

TPTB at Auburn (namely Bobby Lowder) knew that they were about to be making some major purchases and they needed a fall guy in case it all came crashing down. Chizik made for the perfect patsy.

Alot of you guys remember Brady differently than I remember him. He is the one that tore the fan base a part. He was never gonna win it all yeah he would make his runs every couple years but that was probably gonna come to an end because he had pissed a lot of his big supporters off.

Chizik was turd when he got there and was still one when they fired him.

I remember Brady as a guy who pretty much did just enough to keep his job at a school where interest in basketball had severely dropped off since the height of the Dale Brown era.

The guy was pretty much an insufferable arse most of the time he was here, but I think he took it to a whole other level after the Final Four appearance. He thought he was untouchable, and it pissed the wrong people off.

....at that level of income, you are only as good as your last performance.

Whatever happened to Brady, he had control, w/ Chizik, the OC situation did him in.

I can see a little room for leniency for both, I can see having to get rid of both.

...both got fired ahead of the following season, prior to SEASON TICKET REQUESTS and PURCHASES...not to mention the "Tradition Fund" style donations...there is where the RISK lies for the Universities.

follow the money.

I'm glad the rant could have a civil discussion about the great John Brady.
