When you don't let your OC bring his own people...

You effect the ability to teach the offense. Orgeron fires Juluke and hires an RB coach of his choosing. That's not uncommon, but when you bring in a guy whose system is completely different from your current one, it would have helped. I would not be surprised if the assistants dont really know the offense.

Some of these assistants I think are pure recruiters brought in for their connections rather than coaching ability. Shadow staff was supposed to pickup the slack.

Well, they're doing a piss poor job.

I agree with your post 100%

Joseph doesn't know what the hell he's doing. He was hired to lock up NO. He can't coach his way out of whore house.

Just curious. When was the last time an OC came in with his own people?

5 months. Five months. 150 days to learn an offense. Coaches and players can't learn a system in 5 months? No wonder we had pitch left and pitch right under Miles.

Never. That's when. No head coach in the country let's an coordinator bring his own staff.

Never really considered this... this seems like a huge problem.

Everyone calm down. We all know the team is young and we just don't have the talent to match up with the likes of Troy yet. None of this is about coaching

It's not a huge problem. Coordinators never bring in staffs. O was building a new staff so it filled out a slot.

WTF OCs do not bring their own people.
If Matt did, that adds to the problem as he would feel more loyalty to Matt than O.

All I see is that Canada jumps from one job to another.
2003 Northern Illinois (OC/QB)
2004 Indiana (QB)
2005–2006 Indiana (QB/PGC)
2007–2010 Indiana (OC/QB)
2011 Northern Illinois (OC/QB)
2012 Wisconsin (OC/QB)
2013–2015 NC State (OC/QB)
2016 Pitt (OC/QB)

some of these do not even complete one year.
he may turn out to be great, but he is not there now.

Not one of these schools competed at the SEC level .. maybe his plays are not sophisticated enough and therefore easily defended ????

This is why we should have hired a HC and let him bring in his own people. I think Alleva was so hell bent on keeping Aranda that that was a stipulation for incoming coaches. Which is why we went hard after Herman, who would have kept Aranda.

I love Aranda, but we should have brought in a new HC and let him keep who he wanted.

OCs dont bring entire staff. Not uncommon for them to negotiate the ability to bring in 1 or 2 for transition. For some high profile OCs, not allowing that 1 or 2 is a deal breaker. Given the fact that you have a head coach with no offensive experience, very little HC experience, this was necessary.

O was firing guys before Canada could interview them. Some recruits were told that the "new" (Kiffin) OC would help decide the fate of last year's staff.

Canada's offense requires a few real football minds to support it, as well as the support of the HC.

This is what I struggle with. How did Pitt pick up this offense, and excel at it, in the same amount of time? And we look like a dysfunctional pee-wee team.......

Agree but firing or keeping Juluke wouldn't have mattered. He wasnt a part of Canadas staff.

Canada needs to step up or peace out.

This is actually a great point. I didn't give any thought to it until my brother mentioned it to me yesterday and I agreed.

Like you said, it's not uncommon for HCs to appoint those positions, but when installing an offense as unique as Canada's, one would have to think it'd make a difference.

It also seems like the coaches O hired are more recruiters than X's and O's type guys. When they were hired, I remember everyone ranting on their recruiting abilities.

I don't think we've seen Canada's full system yet. This isn't the same offense we ran in the spring. O may not admit it, but he's had his hands in this since the beginning.

But, I was referring to all the shifts and motions normally in his system. Truthfully, I think Canada wanted to go with MB all along, but O knew he needed to win and so he wanted DE and it just hasn't worked out well. They also call better plays when MB is under center.
