Look I didn't like Miles at all but let's be fair he's light years better than Jones. Johnny Jones is the worst coach of any sport I've ever seen and it's not close.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but IMO RD is usually right. He's one of the more tempered posters here and actually has perspective. He doesn't overreact with emotional outbursts to every little thing that goes wrong.

When was the last time Alleva addressed the situation publicly?

You guys are a bunch of Richards. JJ's worse. But Les was pathetic and eventually did more harm to the program than good.

Its really overstated that Miles was this 'bad football coach'. Was it time for him to go? Yes. But the results he put on the field make him the most successful football coach in the history of the school; certainly no worse than second. Like it or not he is on Mt Rushmore for LSU athletics.
I'm not sure who the football equivalent of Johnny Jones is. Dinardo? Even that might be too charitable.

To me, it is not close. JJ hands down. Miles did continue to win games, not as many as I would like, but JJ?

the shite you guys come up with.... miles never had a sub .50 season. Never came close to one.

Look JJ has ruined the program. No one of any talent from Louisiana wants to play for him. They would rather play for other Louisiana colleges. Just let him go and let's get someone who will keep the in state talent. Miles did that!

There's really no comparison between Miles and Jones.
Miles continued recruiting top players throughout his tenure, and lost exactly one OOC regular season game. He was let go because of stagnation and fatigue.
If we're comparing to basketball, it would be like Syracuse letting Jim Boeheim go because they're no longer the power they once were.

Miles constantly had a top 10 class big difference.

Simmons messed the team up. They were passing up on open shots to make the extra pass to Simmons who would eventually pass it back. I remember screaming JUST SHOOT THE DARN BALL.

Did you even watch the team last year?
Simmons was our best offensive player and defensive player.
He was 2nd in the sec in steals and had more rebounds per game than Mickey. He had one of the most productive freshman seasons in ncaa history.

Problem was Ben couldn't shoot outside of 6-feet from the basket. That's why we saw so much of Quarterman at point. The PG has to at least be able to knock down an open shot occasionally in order to be an effective distributor.
Ben was a great player for us, but his skillset while he was at LSU was best utilized as a post player for that very reason.
He excelled when he played as a forward. Defenses eventually figured out all he could do as a guard was penetrate and pass and in the latter half of the season they stopped guarding him outside, and made sure he couldn't penetrate and the other perimeter guys were covered.
