He knows how much it hurts ya'lls feelings when people leave early.
And since he never stays until the end of the game, he'd rather just stay home and give his tickets to someone else.

I saw where they made the "ole miss" logo out of ground meat and had him eat it...make the bama logo out of ground elephant meat and put it in his rolling cage, and I bet he goes in after it...

I hate hypocrites...

That said, Mike is not living any sort of normal existence one would expect of a Tiger. His habitat, although beautiful, is basically a large cage with greenery and a pond. I think if we are going to have a Tiger in that environment, it is the height of hypocrisy for the vet school to curtail an hour in a cage for fear of his "environment" when he has numerous kids, students, and gawkers pressed up against his "habitat" at any various time of day. He's not a normal Tiger folks and doesn't live a normal life. He needs to go into the cage for the games. Not saying we use a cattle prod or anything "barbaric" by today's standards, but what's wrong with a little incentive like training or reward. I'm calling for carrots and not sticks.

I enjoy having a live tiger (an endangered species) as our mascot. I don't care if the just throw away the little trailer. I don't like people beating on the trailer trying to get him to roar.
I would just as soon they leave him alone.

his habitat is nicer than most zoos around the country. by their nature, "habitats" are never going to be normal compared to a species in the wild.

I agree with you, but nothing you've said has contradicted anything in my quoted post. My point was he is a captive animal that is treated as an untamed glorified pet. How much more would we be taking away from his existence by divining methods to humanely coax him into a cage for a few hours 7 times a year?

That should be the name of the campaign to get Mike into the stadium "CARROTS, NOT STICKS"

You keep saying things like this. I need some proof; link? If that is the case then say so. If the trailer is the issue, change the trailer. They have two weeks to figure it out. He is an animal that works on instinct. Are we really trying to outsmart him? They head vet doesn't want him to go just admit it. Then fire his arse. I believe LSU can definitely find another Tiger Expert in the budget.

Well I have been told by the people in charge of Mike that he practices going into his trailer all the time. But apparently, on gamedays, he knows something is up and won't go.

But I also believe that the PETA-loving Vets just simply open the cage and say, "Oh well, Mike didn't go. No biggie."

One man's "humane coaxing" is another's cruelty to animals. Not saying its right or wrong, but there are political pressures that LSU has to concern itself with. Animal rights activists, even the USDA, will contend it is cruel and dangerous just to subject a live tiger to the atmosphere in a football stadium. These days more political pressure is put on schools and organizations that use American Indians as mascots, but that focus could easily shift to teams that have captive wild animals. LSU seems to be more concerned with protecting its ability to have a live tiger for a mascot than parading him around the football stadium.

Yes the government crap is insane, plus these "watchdog" groups. The problem maybe that Mike is about 50% bigger than the previous Mike's. Did they built him a bigger cage? I don't know, but I hate flying coach and I'm just 6'2" 200lbs.

I think I read that Roscoe is not a pure Bengal but a Siberian/Bengal mix..thus his size. Apparently, it is very difficult to get a pure Bengal...nevertheless I agree with the "Tiger Whisperers" for seven days out of 365 or build his butt a bigger cage.
