I'm not a huge fan, but it is better than the stupid ESPN notes they play. ESPN hates LSU.

I've never heard TGBFT play the "da-da-DUM, da-da-DUM" ESPN notes, and I hope I never do. I agree, it's not only stupid, as you point out, it glorifies one of the most crassly self-promotional institutions in existence.

Problem is, though, the people in the stands can't even keep-up with each other, so it ends-up being this totally chaotic scatter of claps that actually sounds random. The drummer is the timekeeper; I think we should keep-up with him.

As a drummer, I can tell you what happens. A natural reaction for a musician is to speed up the tempo when he/she gets excited. Problem is, you don't have 92,000 musicians sitting in the stadium, and they have no concept of tempo period. But they do get excited, and thus the tempo speeds up way past the beat anyway.

The only way for the crowd to keep in time with the band is to clap each time the band members' left feet hit the ground. That said...

I like pregame before the clapping thing started. Hearing the bass drum only addded to the moment

This. In spades.

It bothers me a bit, but mostly I am amazed.

Why even go?

If you really only care about the game, it's much better on TV.

I go into the stadium about 45 minutes before kickoff and leave after the team and then the band after that, sing the alma mater.

I go for the whole experience.

I remember the clapping the first time I paid attention to it which was early 90s.

Least favorite?

Cutting out Tiger Rag because the students yell "a-hole.. a-hole.."

They will only create lyrics for another band played song, which you will then cancel because it's too vulgar.

1. Piped-in music regardless of playlist. The music just reinforces the perception that no one can survive without constantly being force fed some form of distraction.

2. Pregame videos/songs are lame. Save it for baseball.

3. Kicking over trashcans.

In all seriousness, there are 2 things. First, I think "Hey, Fightin' Tigers" is tacky. It's a bad tune from a really bad Broadway show that ran for about 15 minutes
Great song. You suck.

I never cease to be amazed at the erudition, eloquence and intelligence of the typical TD poster.

I still hate the cheer however things are pronounced.

I had forgotten about "2 bits" that someone else mentioned. I hate that one worse.

All in all, I love traditions - even dumb ones. I think it's dumb to TP Toomer's Corner (what will they do now?), but if I were an Auburn fan, I would be all up in the Charmin. If you never got the chance to witness it, it is a sight to be seen.

Anyway, I would be more than happy to trade out all of the piped in music for more GBFTL. In the absence of that swap, I just ask that they stay away from generic stadium rock.

Agree 100%. I've had to turn down the volume on my TV b/c the canned music in the background is so annoyingly loud. Leave the same tired playlist ("Start Me Up", "Crazy Train", that song w/ the ringing bells on 3rd down & all the other overplayed tracks) to NFL arenas & other NCAA programs w/ no traditions.

This recently started bullshite of singing "Home of the 'Tigers'" at the end of the national anthem. I'm not at all a fan of that.

So bait is something a Tiger would prey on? Calling the opponent the prey of the Tiger not nonsensical at all.

Adopting of and playing country music songs in Tiger Stadium has taken TS down a notch. It really makes LSU seem like a bunch of backwards rednecks like you would expect in Mississippi or Alabama. I hate to see that, and wish for a return to more classy/less redneck traditions.

Not sure if serious.

What is your definition of recent? Fans have been doing it for at least 15 years.

haha! I haven't made a national anthem in about that long. Too busy boozing at the tailgate.

And yes, I'm dead serious.

You just don't get it. It has nothing to do with actual (literal) rain.
