gotta remember those....
but seriously... its pretty easy to interpret what hes trying to say... but if you try to read them literally, they make no fricking sense at all.
FWIW, i think Miles is a very smart dude whos wisdom exceeds his ability to comminicate it in a common diplomatic fashion. Of course his recent history of clock management contradicts that.

He has stated his feelings on the media. Do you think he cares enough about these people that he would take time out of his day to guess the questions and write down possible answers?
I find it ironic that THIS bunch (rant) calls anyone an idiot

To all of the English professors on this thread - It is a verbatim quote. Quick acting like Miles wrote this shite in an essay. If someone put a mic in your face and asked you a question while the rest of us quoted you verbatim, we could all have a laugh at the grammar.

Exactly. I could understand this 3-4 years ago, but its gotten old. We dont need a new thread for two or three qoutes every single time he speaks to the media. Hes not a great media speaker. Hes trying to think on the fly about how to answer a question without throwing anyone under the bus and at other times not give any tips to our upcoming opponents (not happening in this qoute but it happens in many others.) He doesnt give out gameplan issues. He doesnt give out injuries. Hes said why in the past-he doesnt want any info for our opponents. And he has to put all this into vauge language on the spot. So stop making a new thread every single time he says things in a very round about way. Its gotten old.

quote:
"I guess what I'm saying is I'm in the key piece of my season where the big plays have yet to have been made.
quote:
As I go into the next game, I look for those plays to be more important than anything that we've done in the past, and to say that I have any opinion to this point that would be finite would not.
quote:
Really, I'm expecting this receiving corps to do the things that they've done in the past, and that is rebound and play like hell and play well
quote:
If they do that, that's just what I want to see them do.
quote:
In many instances there is some developing going on, and there are some guys, in my opinion, who are a little bit nicked and will probably be playing with greatest health this Saturday."

Why can't he say "Yes, their blocking sucks. They better improve or they're gonna ride the bench soon."
No coach is going to put his guys under the bus. It's just not right.
One of my problems with the guy. It seems like he never wants to offend anybody or hurt anyone's feelings. This is a football program. Not therapy. Now, I would never expect a coach to say something along the lines of what was quoted above, but there is nothing wrong with lighting a little fire under someone's arse.
"Our perimeter blocking is something that needs to improve if we want to have continued success moving forward."
If he truly is disappointed in the blocking of the WR corps, that's all he had to say.

Very true, He needs to be more straight to the point and stop confusing the crap out of people. I know coaches try to be secretive about their team and gameplan, but it's pretty bad when a coach loses his fans because they can't understand what he's saying.

That's why he does his coaching within the team and doesn't really give a rat's ... what you or the media think.
He answers the questions in the most vague and coachspeak PC way possible.
He's NEVER going to just come out and say oh yea, we'd be a hell of a lot better if my 5* WRs would catch the stinking ball or throw a decent block every once in a while.
If he did every Media outlet in the country would be comparing him to Mike Leach and accusing him of child abuse.
You guys need to get some listening/reading comprehension skills (and that includes whoever claimed to be an 'english' teacher) and give it a rest.

With alot of the season remaining, he has not seen the consistency he wants but he is not willing to declare them a poor unit, he expects them to play better, he has had a few playing hurt. Everyone is healhty.

so your saying we need to take a course in mileisms to be able to understand WTF he is saying? I wonder if the players have a clue maybe thats why there is so much confusion during games
I am waiting for the miles-english book to hit the bookstores.....it would be a top seller in Louisiana

because he doesnt like interviews? because he doesnt care to take media speaking courses? because hes a savant like Yoda or Ghandi and wants you to have to interpret and think about what he says so that you truly get the meaning? I dont know I dont really care and after this long I think you should as well.

our receivers are much more capable than what you have seen thuse far. As in past seasons, when LSU receivers were struggling (LaFell maybe), as the season has progressed, they have done better down the stretch and were very important parts of the offense.
That is a guess
That is a guess

He makes 3.8 million/year. He is the CEO of this program. He has responsibilities to be reasonably straight with the media and fans. Emphasis on "reasonably." I know people will say "He doesn't care what you or the media thinks." Well, okay then. The media isn't being too kind to him right now due to how he answers to the media. Maybe he should worry about it. And yeah, he probably should care what the fans think. Obviously, this isn't a football democracy or something, but they are, after all, the fans.

I don't think anybody expects him to come out and say something like this...ever. However, there is a big difference between throwing players under the bus (I don't know who told him to clock it) and challenging your players while at the same time giving the media a straight answer like what I suggested above.
quote:
If he did every Media outlet in the country would be comparing him to Mike Leach and accusing him of child abuse.
What? How in the hell would the media translate "Our receivers need to improve their blocking" to Miles abuses his players? That would also be libel.
Do we really think our player's psyches are that fragile? I mean, I'm not asking him to come out and say "Reuben Randle. I repeat, Reuben Randle sucks at blocking." I am of the school of thought that says calling a group of players out a little bit challenges them to improve. To make them say "Oh really coach? Watch me in practice tomorrow. I'll prove to you I can block some MF's"
