What is your opinion of Chavis telling his good friend Steele to take the job?

I take it that Chavis knows LSU is a very good job. Contractual disagreement just didnt work out for Chavis.

I think it was a lot more than that.

I doubt he would talk shite about the position. He would probably still be here if it wasnt for those contractual disagreements. He prob did warn Steele about Alleva tho.

Downed a couple shots of Sake for Coach O. Not high, but I'm floating a bit.

Either he wanted his friend to take advantage of a better oopportunity or he thinks he sucks which would help TAM out.

I'm looking forward to the Tigers taking advantage of "third and Chavis."

I don't think anyone needs Chavis to tell them it's a great job

Les and Frank starting putting the heat on Chavis to get off his arse and do more recruiting the old bullfrog didn't appreciate being asked to actually do his job and he bristled. that is why he left.

although we don't know this as fact, imo there is something to this. chavis' first 3 years on the job he produced better results than the last 3 and we had a big problem on the DL. sure, the D produced better than the O but that sure wasn't true the year before. I can see that he would have been chastised for this, which is normal. and he probably "felt" he should be above reproach based on his overall body of work over a long period of time got pissed and "accepted" a different job making a million dollars more.

i'm sorry to lose the chief because we knew what we had and with better recruiting and coaching for the front 7 we would most definitely have a great team in the future.

BUT, i'm energized by our two new coaches and look forward to BETTER DEFENSES than we had over the last 3 years and BETTER OFFENSES as well.

The last time a coach left LSU and recommended his replacement we ended up with Mike Archer, hope this turns out better.

i think the draft had something to do with that...I think he was frustrated with the offense and got tired of being leaned on to win the game...could have he been lazy in recruiting?...maybe...Franks tweet yesterday was an eye opener to me...But i still think we downgraded in DC, we may be better in recruiting and DL (and we will need it) but Steele is not on par with Chavis's record...

Steele worked at LSU about a year or 2 ago as an assistant to Chavis. Why would Chavis have to tell him to take the job or not?

Looking back I think the wheels started turning after Auburn. In the press conference after the game Les said he would meet with the defensive staff the next morning which he never did. After that game our MLB was changed and the D line scheme was altered and all of a sudden we could actually stop the run again. Its obvious Bricks D line hasnt produced as of late and he has 3 highly recruited tackles that cant play. I think Brick was gone at the end of the year regardless of what Chavis wanted. Chavis went from calling every shot on defense to having to answer to someone else. he is back in the saddle at A&M again.
