I'm hoping for the NIT. That would be an awesome step forward for this program, then we have some real talent coming in next year, along with the young guys...I'll be in the PMAC every game.

Its pretty obvious. You are trying to set the expectations super high so you can trash mcmahon when he doesnt hit them. Because, he has made you look a little silly lately

I think this team has earned the right to be supported by its fans. I wouldn’t say I’m exciited but it’s great to see this team experience some winning. Even in the Auburn loss they showed heart and continued to play hard and cut a 28 point deficit to 8 late in the game. That impressed me as much as the wins. Time to be a part of the winning. They will still struggle against elite teams but they have a lot of positives and are one of the deeper teams in the conference. Once you get past the top 4 teams in the SEC it’s anyones game.

This team is one that you can pull for. They play great defense and have depth. I want them to get to the tournament so bad. Coach McMahon deserves it.

My concern is that there will be a stretch of 3 or 4 games where we play poorly. First can we win even when playing bad and can we bounce back after a really bad stretch. That will determine if we can hit that 10 win number.

Outside of the Auburn game LSU's defense has been pretty solid. Even against Auburn it wasn't terrible (in the second half). The one negative on defense is the fouling. Auburn shot 31 FTs. Ole Miss shot 29 FTs. Largely because they were in the bonus with 13:00+ minutes to go in the 2nd half. The FT line was the ONLY thing that really kept the game from being a blowout because LSU stifled OM from the field. But give McMahon credit. In the wins vs. A&M and Ole Miss LSU completely mitigated each team's strengths. A&M was the best offensive rebounding team in the nation going in to that game, grabbing nearly 50% of potential offensive rebounds. LSU held them to 25%. Last night, Ole Miss entered the game was one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the country (shooting over 40%). LSU held them to 25%. Thus far, the team is getting the message of what they HAVE to stop and doing just that!

Offensively, LSU is shooting the ball ok. Not "good", but ok. What's killing them though is the turnovers. 16 steals for Auburn (17 total TOs). 15 turnovers last night (several coming in the last few minutes to make a should be blowout a tight game). McMahon had a great line after the Auburn game with the 16 steals when he said LSU "would have been better off just kicking the ball into the stands" because at least the would not have allowed the transition buckets. Much of that emphasis has to fall on Cook as he is averaging 4.0 TOs per game in SEC play. His assist:TO ratio is 1:4. That's awful for your PG. If he can get that number down LSU's offense would be more consistent.

3 really good teams

Possibly 4. Auburn, Bama, Kentucky and Tennessee are all likely to be Top 4 seeding during selection time.

For LSU to dance this season, it'll take a LOT of work. It's truly "loft eagles." It would require going at least 12-6 in SEC play (very unlikely) thanks to a BAD loss to Nicholls and overall less-than-stellar pre-SEC performance by the team.

Yea, Bama is playing better right now but in non conf they were 1-5 vs P5 opponents and 0-3 vs ranked teams. They’ve got back to back ranked opponents coming up so let’s see how they fair in the next two. I have to disagree on the 12 win number for us getting in because the other teams in that middle tier we’ll be competing with don’t have any non conference highlights either. I think 10 wins is probably a crap shoot depending on who we beat in conf play and how things shake out overall but I think 11 will get us in with the large number of SEC teams predicted to go. That number can change of course depending on what happens in conference throughout the country.

I am cautiously optimistic. I am concerned that Cook has played himself out of the lineup at spots in the last 2 games. Baker is very deliberate and gets in trouble dribbling with his head down.

On the positives Ward has had a couple of nice games in a row. Also Mike Williams' play has beaten all expectations. Better shooter than I thought and has turned rebounding from a liability into a strength.

Baker should be practicing with a medicine ball to stop him from putting it on the floor so much. Reed as well to build his strength at the rim.

I have some hope now - where about 3 weeks ago and since early SEC play last year I had next to none. So better for sure.

What was great last night against OM was that when he pulled the starters except for Wright I think, you would expect them to give up some of the lead but they held the lead and I believe added to it a bit. that was really awesome while the starters were getting some rest.

I've always said I thought the talent was better than the performance. That's slowly starting to even out, hope it keeps up.

LSU's strength (outside of the PG position) is that they have a lot of options on the roster. The weakness is that they have a lot of options on the roster...meaning that outside of Wright right now there is no one who has really been consistent. That probably explains a lot of why LSU has been a much better second half team this season. The coaching staff has to spend the first half trying to figure out which guys are "on" that night, and which ones aren't.

Doc Rivers had a good comment the other night during an NBA broadcast where he said every coach would rather have 8 good, consistent players instead of a deep, but inconsistent roster because it allows the coach to know who he can rely on each night. Outside of Cook and Wright, I don't think McMahon has that right now. It's a lot of mixing and matching early until he can (hopefully) figure out his best rotation for the night.

Goes back to - at least for me -the development and improvement mantra I've been harping on the last year and a half, part of that is absolutely consistency. It's getting better though and that pleases me.
