Haven't been to a home game since Rohan made his first start against Auburn (I think).

Thinking of taking my teenaged son to his first game for the home opener and was hoping to find out what the game day experience is like now.

Where does one park now? Are there off campus transportation to campus? What time should we get there to see the band make its appearance? Etc.

Any suggestions welcomed, but I'm primarily concerned about traveling to and from campus/parking.

TIA

ETA: If it makes a difference, we'll be staying with relatives in the Walker area.

I have been buying a parking pass to park behind the Barnes and Noble store. Buy off the LSU ticket site. Easy to get in and easy to leave.

The schedule is usually published the week of the game. This will be a night game.

I usually pay 10 or 20 to park off of Nicholson around that poboy place before you get to Voodoo bar. They have alot of parkibg around that area, and the people are good about watching the vehicles. Its easy and quick to get back on the interstate from there too after the gm...

This is your best bet..

Park down Nicholson so its just a straight shot to the interstate and easy walk to the stadium

You have to take your son around and point at fatties and say, "back in my day, baw... Girl's we're way hotter", and you won't be lying.

Outside the stadium is pretty similar (numbers wise) to those Rohan years, but parking is completely different. Inside the stadium is completely different, both good and bad. Those parking and tailgate restrictions have really set the outside scene back from its heights in the mid 2000s.

I agree with this. Tailgating has always waned past mid season with the exception of a Alabama, or Auburn game. You'd think as the weather gets cooler more people would be out tailgating. that may be the case in the free parking areas, and closer to the stadium, but not around Pat Taylor where we've been for the past 25 years. Tons of tailgaters early in the season, but tailgating is very sparse after mid season. I began noticing this with the advent of on campus paid parking for areas that were free before.

This is true. LSU is making it more difficult each year for fans to tailgate, whether it be increases in paid parking areas or outlawing of parking in other areas altogether.

I know I will get hammered but not near as good as it used to be, I'm sorry to say.

You and your son will still have a good time.

Rohan to Reed and DD. Exciting football.

What you will see now is run run pass punt.

You can probably sit anywhere you want by the second quarter when Brandon Harris throws 3 touchdowns and everyone leaves .

I would absolutely recommend you take your son to a game...that seed is the very thing that sways a lot of kids to go to college when the time comes...and there is no more unique place than LSU to see a game. Unfortunately, the first game will be a pretty slow one due to the temp and level of competetion. honestly, I would probably try to catch one of the later games so it will be a little more comfortable and exciting.

when you go, I would say to park in one of the free lots off gourrier...just across from alex box is free parking that sends you south on Nicholson after the game. you will head south on nicholson and cut across to the interstate on starring, which puts you right where you need to be to hit I-12.

I tailgate around alex box and you guys are welcome to check in with me anytime. band comes down the hill 2 hours before kickoff, and there is a good bit of stuff to cruise around campus to show him....

The three best home games to attend this year will be Auburn, Arkansas & TAMU [I'll assume that you'll be busy with Turkey day around the TAMU game]. For some reason I'm feeling a bit more optimistic about the atmosphere on campus this year. Maybe it has to do with the fact that we don't have too many directional U games in arrow and the fact that we will only have back-to-back home games once this season [UF & WKU].

As others have said, your best bet is to park on the northside of campus.

Early season games ARE hot!

The advice on parking along Nicholson is accurate, but if you are going to Walker after the game you may want to consider parking on the east side of campus so that you can get on an exit like Daylryple easier and avoid the log jam getting onto the bridge.

Tailgating is still very alive and well all throughout the campus. You have to get there very early (before 8am) if you want the first come/first served spots.

If kickoff is at 6pm-6:30pm, the players walk down Victory Hill (road between PMAC and Tiger Stadium) around 4pm, followed by the Tiger Band, Golden Girls dance team, and cheerleaders. This is a MUST see! Get to that area a little before 4pm as it gets crowded, especially for SEC games.

After the game, I know a few players who always stick around until the very last autograph/picture request is done, so if interested I would head to the player locker room area after the game.

Good luck and enjoy the time with your son, there is something magical about Tiger Stadium!

if those hard to hear words offend everyone so much then just have the band play over the pause that lets those words snea k in

Go to a non-conference game, less people, less traffic, LSU will be gaurenteed to win .

If you need a place to tailgate , all That most people ask is that you "contribute to the cause" and don't come completely empty handed .
