9 posts in and nobody talks about the biggest loss this team has endured, and that's losing Craig Victor.
say what you want, but this team would have at least 4 more victories if he doesn't get kicked off.
Ehhh... Maybe 1 or 2 more wins. We were getting our shite stomped with him in the lineup too.

The coach sucks and the players quit on him.
They looked like a decent basketball team for 30 minutes last night. The problem this team has is that they can't stop the momentum when the other team gets rolling. Ole Miss outscored them 39-10 over the last 10 minutes last night. It's like the first sign of adversity makes this team fold the tent and it gets very ugly.
They looked good most of the first half against Arkansas. Built a 10 point lead. But in the snap of a finger they were down 10. Other teams just make these massive runs that we can't stop.

I know this is outrageously far-fetched and would never happen but what if for one remaining home game the fans, just for the frick of it, would pack the PMAC. Hell, let people in for free. Bus in school kids. Whatever. Someway get the fans in attendance to just for the hell of it get behind these student-athletes and try to cheer them to a victory. Yell their arse's off everytime the opponent is on offense. Go beserk on breakaways and dunks. I'm not saying this could will them to a victory but it could show them a little enthusiastic support from the fans. Just a crazy thought.

he taught them how to quit last year when they rejected an NIT bid. so yes, he taught them quit.

No thanks. I refuse to show tacit approval of Jones. I feel for the players, but not enough to waste my time and money going to a game.

Nothing good would have come out of going to the NIT last year. That team was fractured from the core. LSU would have paid money to send its team on the road and get waxed one more time. That season needed to end when it did.

I don't think I have ever heard of such a thing happening
See LSU v. Kentucky 1994 31 points down to LSU. LSU was leading 56-27 at the half and lost 99-95....that's 35 points. Who was an assistant on that staff..... Johnny Jones

That's on the players. You should want to play hard and win regardless of your coach. If you don't try or care, that's 100% on you.
clearly you don't understand the value of a good leader (whether it's a coach, teacher, CEO, military officer, etc.) that can inspire and push his people to greater heights.
Human beings react to their leaders, it's just natural. Great leaders get more out of their people, and poor leaders get less. It's just the way it is.

so wrong.
a team (a team), again (a team) sticks together and never quits. Simmons out disinterested fine. Blakeney out sick fine. Take the guys you have and go play. get your arse beat and parlay the bitter taste of defeat and grow from your arse whippings.
hey, maybe every fricking football team that doesn't make the playoff should quit. this isn't about money. the athl. dept losing some dough isn't a problem. its about playing out the season and fighting to the finish.
the NIT is a quality tournament, especially for teams looking to get to the dance in the future.

I'm surprised about the total silence from Alleva and people in the know. I read someone posted that Alleva is making it clear to Dale and crew that their choice isn't working out.
I thought something would be said. Or a letter sent. Or a binder presented. I want basketball to at least be in the top 3 or 4 of the SEC (that's not saying much).

While I would say that this is the case, in life, in general- its hard to say that an 18-20 year old kid has that within themselves. Most kids (this generation at least) need external motivation.

I know it would technically hurt us, but I would LOVE to see JJ get T'd up at least once.
Give the players something to feed off of.

Nah man. This is basketball. I played in HS and 1.5 years in college, and never lacked motivation whether the team was good or not.
I play pickup ball with guys whose competitive fire is there and we're literally playing for nothing but our own entertainment.

I agree 100%. What a fantastic opportunity to get the walk-ons and pine-riders meaningful game action. Not a minute here or there, but an actual opportunity to try to help win a game for your team.

Terrible coaching. Johnny Jones knows it's over so I doubt he's even trying to save his job at this point.
I think Blakeny needs too be more selfish with the ball as well. Him scoring 40 will be the only way that this team gets another win.
No leadership, no team chemistry, no player accountability between teammates.
A couple of games ago when they honored former players Shaq was interviewed. Shaq said he met the team and said "Who's team is this. Nobody raised there hand until after an awkward pause when Blakeny finally did. Shaq then said, "Then act like it."

I played HS football in BR in the 80's.
My Sr. year, we had 7 starters go on to play Div I or Div II ball in college - a lot considering our inner city school.
Our HC was just awful - plain and simple. We lost almost every game.
We didn't quit on him, and we played hard. We were just a poorly managed, organized, and coached team. We even had pretty good arse't. coaches, but they can only do so much.
Seems to mirror a lot of what has been going on around LSU lately.

I truly think CJJ just does not have the presence as a head coach/leader to demand consistent accountability, particularly from his better players.
I think that takes time to dramatically affect the team culture but it evolved over the years (I think that's why his first year was his best Re: results vs. relative talent) to where it is now.
And at this point it has seeped into the culture and this inconsistency I think is part and parcel of that.

I obviously missed it. Was it a Wednesday game? I have night classes on Wednesday and don't get to watch except on my phone with volume off...
