What is it with our Head Coaches wanted their Best Friends for their OC?

I see a trend here and I'm not sure it's a good trend. Why do they keep doing this?

I understand why Coach O made the statement he will hire the best OC in college football. Les hired the best DC in college football last year. Everyone knows we needed an big upgrade at OC so he knows he has to deliver. I don't see our fanbase having patience if we lose 3 games next year.

I think there was hope on Les' part to leave LSU on his own terms and help Cam get promoted as successor.

Guess that plan didn't work out so well, eh?

I don't know but I completely share your thoughts. I do NOT want lane kiffin as our OC and his "friendship" with coach O is only one reason. his hire has strong potential to be a major frick up. kiffin does not like to take orders from saban and he won't like to from orgeron either.

we just got over a cancer in our coaching ranks;hiring another one is stupid.

I think Les hired Cam for a lot of reasons, but one big one was that he would let Les have a ton of input into the gameplans.

Orgeron wants no fricking part of the gameplan on either side of the ball.

God, that is crazy to think about that for a head coach. He literally has no clue what either side is doing during games

Regardless of who we hire, we CERTAINLY don't want the OC taking any orders from Orgeron.

He himself admits he knows nothing about offense and would just let OC's do their thing.

It was a losing proposition for CC or anyone else with Les' finger on them.

In coaching, you spend a ton of hours with your coaching staff. It's nice to have people you know and have worked with in the past. It happens everywhere at every level.

Well Lane Kiffin is the best OC in college football so I don't care if he's coach O's boyfriend we need to hire him. The difference between this situation and the miles cam one is that Coach O won't be stepping all over Kiffins feet and ruining the offense the way Miles did.

Generally not a good idea for your friend to be your boss.

Lane will come to LSU exactly because he will NOT have to take orders from Orgeron. Orgeron gave orders to his coordinators at Ole Piss and it screwed everything up.

He now knows better and will do things unlike Miles and to a lesser degree Saban and let Kiffin do what he is payed to do.

It is a bold strategy.

LSU is going to pay Orgeron $3.5 million (low value for a big program) to recruit, be the loyal manager, and the Louisiana face of the team. They will the. Reallocate the rest of the money to pay the coordinators like they are head coaches at programs just below the top teir and take care of their side of the ball. We will see how it works.

I have had a best Freind as my boss, and years later at a different place he came and worked for me. Both situations work out and our productions were at there highest, we both would like to team up again.
It was great both ways, and because of our freindship we worked better as a team. Now I have no idea if this can be the same but when doing that you do have to know your position, but we had no problems.

Just my 2 cents.
