...besides Johnny Jones? Jury still out on him as a coach, but can apparently recruit pretty good.

Who else has he hired?

Alleva would only make a football hire in name.

TAF approved change only.

Jones is not a good coach. Patrick got simmons and simmons got blakeney who apparently isn't any good or as athletic as we thought. Don't give jones too much credit.

the softball coach turned out to be pretty good, and she was even his second choice after old boy pulled a rich rod on him.

He's also hired the current women's tennis coach. I have no idea how women's tennis has been lately or how they were under the old coach. I remember them having a few good individuals but nothing about the teams.

Was VERY sought after coming off his success at Stanford

I'm always dumbfounded when people have that reaction to Trent Johnson being hired. On paper at the time, that was a very good hire. By far the best one Alleva has made at Lsu. Obviously it ended up not waking out so great at the end. But hiring Trent Johnson away from Stanford was much more impressive than hiring Johnny jones away from north Texas.

I think the women's tennis coach has a couple of very good recruits for next year.

He hired Cutcliffe at Duke too, which is probably the best hire anyone has ever made there for football outside of the guy who hired Spurrier

I'm gonna say Kyle Whittingham is this football coaching search's Trent Johnson. Good coach, probably terrible fit.

Two hires at Duke before cutcliffe went a combined 13-90.

Cutcliffe at Duke was a great fit. TJ just was not a good fit at LSU.

Yeah, but it's not like Duke was attracting top candidates either...

Well it turned out to be a bad hire. Same thing can happen to football too.

Oh I know, but first guy goes 6-45, next guy 7-45. That's just not very good. Baseball coach he hired lost 100 more games than he won and got caught giving steroids to his players.
