Yep, a Skip or Saban doesn't come around every hire.
However, what emphasis was put on baseball back then. How many other teams had top facilities back then?

You are the clueless one. Almost everyone in this thread loves the game of baseball. You obviously don't really know about the sport because compared to all other sports, baseball has more parity at every level it's played at. The weaker team in baseball has a better chance to win than say the weaker team in football. The 90's are over. Gone. They're not coming back. Too bad because I loved the LSU baseball dominance and the music was 100 times better. Skip Bertman would not enjoy the same level of success in this era of college baseball. We all want LSU to win the CWS every year, but please be realistic.

Genius it's tradition, that's why the comparison was brought up, & you say it's harder now than in the days of Gorilla Ball, Tim Corbin would agree LOL

My God you people are miserable!
He was the national pitching coach of the year last year.
In 66 games last year our pitchers gave up 279 free bases via walk and HBP. That is an average of 4.2/game
This year through 42 games we have given up 194 free bases, for an average of 4.6/ game.
My point is, Dunn can't get out there and throw the ball across the plate for them. The player have to sack up and fill the zone up.

Wins 2008-2015 LSU 385 Vanderbilt 368 Florida 344
Wins (most recent history)
2012-2015 LSU 203 Vanderbilt 191 Florida 168
Florida won 29 games in 2013 (rebuilding year)
Vanderbilt won 35 games in 2012 (rebuilding year)
All three of these schools are pretty consistent. Rebuilding years happen. It's baseball.

We've won more conference games this year then I thought we would.

What's amazing about the stats I listed is that LSU has averaged 48 wins a season over the last 8 years. We've averaged over 50 wins a season the last 4 years. That's crazy! Those asking for PM's head have no clue.

Uh... Yeah, he would most definitely agree that there is far more parity in the game now. Because he's not a tard.

I was between the ages of 18-34. I was a left field lunatic. I lived the dream!

The 1st game I ever saw at LSU was in 1983, the year before Stanley Bertman arrived, & if Jack Lamabe would have had the resources Paul Mainieiri he might have lasted longer. The reason I ask how old you were is because I doubt if you witnessed all of LSU's National Championships, & you cannot comment on years you have not witnessed otherwise it makes you a TARD

Yikes.
For what it's worth I did witness every championship. But it doesn't take being there to look at what teams have made it to the CWS/won titles in more recent years, which teams have started to really invest in and care about baseball, etc. and then conclude there are far more quality teams and programs able to make deep postseason runs in a given year now than there were some 15-25 years ago. All of the data is there for you. There is more parity in the game today than in the 90s and it isn't up for debate. Have a nice day, man.

Agreed, were all Tiger Fans I just anticipate Omaha every year, it's not how it was in the 90s, I miss those Tape Measure Shots.

Ron Fraser, Ron Polk, and Skip Bertman built college baseball in the South. Imagine college baseball without those three gentlemen. Once Skip built LSU into a money making competetive juggarnaugt then other schools like, Rice, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Alabama, and TCU copied the blueprint. LSU won big before everyone jumped onto college baseball facilities.
Parity is real. Tulane and USL have had regional type teams during the past 15 years. The CWS is a crapshoot. Eight teams are all playing well getting to Omaha. Errors happen in the game. Injuries happen. Bloopers happen. Pitcher mistakes happen. The best team doesn't always win the National Championship.
Paul Mainieri has some issues but he has won a lot of games during the past 8 years. You can't fire a coach with his winloss percentage. Like others have said, coach Bertman would not win 5 titles in 10 years right now. Bertman's teams were not perfect in Omaha or during the Regionals.
Lastly, LSU mostly bought six team regionals back in the 80's and 90's. Getting to Omaha was easier because the Tigers played at Alex Box most seasons. Hell of a home field advantage. There were no SR. Everything now is geared toward parity in baseball. Imagine if one college won 8 or 9 Nc in baseball over a 20 year period. Interest in the game would not grow. For a while, about 15 teams competed for Omaha every year. Now, It is more diverse. Good for the game overall. LSU will be back to Omaha next season if Pitching improves.

Alabama Football is still Alabama Football,
1992-2009
Currently, lsu has only gone 7 years without a baseball title

Expectations so unrealistic we could (and happen to be) replacing 8/9 position players and fans think it's still CWS or bust, as opposed to just enjoying the young talent emerge.
