I hate to say rebuilding yr when it comes to baseball, but I guess that is what this yr is.
My question is what happened to our starting pitchers and bull pen?? They have not improved from last yr at all. Should Coach Dunn shoulder the blame and explain the decline?? I have always respected him. What about recruiting?? Seems like our best players come from Jr Colleges and PM doesn't see their potential till the season is almost over. (Romero). I'm not a fan of PM , but concerned about Dunn. Hitting is hot and cold. Would like an explanation from PM on his coaching and that of the staff.
Hate to hear him whining and blaming players. Just venting

Even the best programs will have a year where they have to replace a ton and will have a down year. That's the nature of college baseball today with scholarship restrictions, increased parity, etc. I and most everyone expected us to struggle at the plate this year. But like you said, the pitching struggles have been pretty mystifying. Can't begin to explain that really. I'll say that Lange appears to have turned a corner. But we need much more consistency from our bullpen, Poche and Valek.

You should contact all the other SEC programs with 6 CWS Championships and ask them how they survived a rebuilding year.

Is it possible a "baseball mom" has a hidden agenda?

Arkansas went to Omaha last year. They are 7-14 in the SEC today.

UCLA was the #1 national seed last year. Today their PAC-12 record is 10-11 and 21-21 overall.

Every program goes through cycles. LSU is not immune to it.

Is 10-11 bad? We are 11-10.

Obviously you don't follow college baseball. Lsu is in way better shape than many programs that go through rebuilding years. Young teams typically don't hit and pitch well on the same day consistently. Our hitting has been great to the tune of 2nd in the conference but I will agree the pitching has been underwhelming. Injuries, attrition, and regression by by some pitchers have led to this

Skip had 2 bad years in 18 seasons, & 1 was his 1st Year, don't say it's not the same game as when Skip coached, because Alabama fans, probably made the same excuse after Paul Bryant left coaching,"We'll Never Have Another Run Like That".

Not many fans outside of LSU do. But we care more and we notice more. I'm sure not more than the kids parents and 200 other folks tops give a shite about UCLA.

Arkansas gets good crowds when they are winning, but their give a shite scale is not really anywhere near that of LSU's fans....no one's is.

The only concern that I have is that this was supposed to be a down year with so many inexperienced position players, but pitching would carry us. I fear that after next year it'll just flip. We will be stacked in the field/at the plate, but we won't have much of a staff. This is the first year that I can remember in a while that no freshman pitcher has made an impact (other than Gilbert early on). We will likely lose our best pitching prospect to the draft. Just hoping someone shows up out of nowhere I guess. Regardless people that think you never have down years no matter how great of a program you have are crazy. Especially in baseball where there is so much parity. And this comment is coming from someone that has no love for Mainieri.

Even skip has said multiple times the landscape of college baseball has changed dramatically since the days of him and Ron Polk.

So whether you want to hear it or not doesn't change that its fact.

It's very, very different.

The level of competition is much greater now.

Alabama Football is still Alabama Football, Duke Basketball is still Duke Basketball, but LSU Baseball isn't LSU Baseball because the level of competition is much greater than when Skip coached??

Sure, that's part of it. No one will ever win 5 titles in 10 years again. I'm sorry that's so hard to understand. Mainieri isn't Skip and this isn't the 90s.
