Charles had about 150yds in the 1st half vs Kentucky, then maybe 2 carries the rest of the way(2nd half+OT+OT). Then comes 4th down in the 2nd OT, Les lets him get a carry and he was stopped.

The reasoning given was that the coaches saw how KY adjusted to how we were using Scott. When KY made changes they felt running Scott would not be as successful in second half. They had different blocking assignments and calls in place for Hester and decided to go with that. Basically, the play calling was not exactly the same for each player and were used in different scenarios regardless of how it looked. When that well ran dry they went back to what they were doing with Scott. It failed the last time they tried it. Just going back on memory on the reason given when that was brought up after the game.

Ridley was the most dependable back we had that year. Despite the two fumbles in that game the rest of the year proved how valuable he was. The fumbles that game did not cost us in the end.

Luckily a very depleted UNC squad dropped two catchable passes in the end zone at the end or it would have cost us and Kielend fumbled in a scrimmage and got a rep for not securing the ball apparently that stuck with him for his whole career even though he never displayed a tendency to have a rep for bad ball security in actual real games.

I always found that to be a contradiction in the "nobody puts Les's football on the ground" mantra whenever this subject comes up.

I was at the game. It was a nervous ending. We just had too much depth and the D held out at the end.

I was more embarrassed at a section of our own fans than upset at the team and coaches. I can understand it to an extent with how we almost lost and lack of execution at key points during the game. But despite winning I overhead so much vulgar language thrown at the coaches and CLM. One drunk guy in our section at the end of our gam in front of children called CLM a Mfer and kept yelling "go back to Michigan you POS idiot!!".

I have seen fans act like this not just at LSU games of course it happens. But I had not seen a section of the fan base act like that after a WIN!!! UNC fans were disappointed they lost of course but proud of the effort of their team. I actually saw a few of them clap at their team when coming off the field. Yeah, they were cheering for a moral victory and actual defeat.

A UNC couple my wife and I talked to during and after the game asked about the fan reaction. I had to give them the 30 second version of what a Negatiger is and how if Miles does not measure up to perfection the hate for him and the coaches out of a section of our fan base. My wife, who is a LSU fan by adoption and life long UGA fan, actually mentioned to them and me in private how our fans' actions can be so embarrassing. She has been to TS many times after LSU defeat and victory and knows very well about our lowest common denominators. Just was a surreal feeling after an opening season win.

CLM is usually strict about fumbles. Ridley was too valuable to take out of the game. Obviously the coaches felt there was too much drop off from him and the other backs at the time.

Ridley played in our district in high school. He was a monster playing against a bunch of small slow white boys but even then he had a ball control issues. Great athlete great back but was always a risk to fumble.

Not sure how they could've come to that conclusion so fast. Scott's last carry of the first half was a TD right before halftime then he got one more carry before the last play of the game.

Charles Scott's name came up at work a few days ago.

Was told by someone I work with that CS was just hired by a man who owns a yard cutting business.

Keiland had ball security issues early on at LSU. Miles doesn't care how talented you are you better not turnover his football as coaches should be

You can also add he didn't like running inside , and maybe the fumbling issue was part of his wanting to turn everything outside.

Interesting

If I remember correctly he lost the ball at the one yard line to lose the state championship in like 07 or 08.

Not trying to take anything away from him. He's one of my all time favorite Tigers. But ball security issues where a problem for him all the way from high school to the NFL.

Must have been earlier, he was at LSU those years. He was about the only bright spot on that awful 08 team my freshman year.

What I remember most about KW is the run vs. Va Tech, that was fun to watch. It begins around 00:27
