These absolutes are pretty absolute

And chip kelly referenced Cortes on returning to college:

LINK /

quote:

"I'm all in. I think it was Cortes who burned the boats; I've burned the boats," Kelly said in reference to the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes. "I'm not going back. I'm in. I'm an NFL coach and this is where I want to be. If there was any indecision in terms of I didn't want to be in, then I wouldn't have made the jump. I've made the jump, I'm here and I'm excited to be here."

Would be tough going from middle school offense to college scheme but I could do it.

So you wouldn't be comfortable just bringing Chip Kelly in? You would need an established defensive coordinator first?

Wow.

In the scenario Rummy defined, where the D coord comes in this year and then Miles is gone the next... yes, I'd like to see the D solid first.

Just bringing in Kelly and for the next 2 years being the next TAMU, but without Chavis is not MY dream. It may be yours. I want SEC championships and NC's, not stats and Heismans.

We have another one like this year next year and even the most pumpin' of the sunshine pumpers are going to be calling for his head. If there's a better option becoming available at the same time, he's probably gone.

Its obvious that offense doesn't work when you play NFL caliber defenses. The ones we will see every year in the sec. We would still get smoked by bama running that shite.

You are just not smart. It pains me. It fricking hurts me to try and understand your logic.

Chip Kelly is a top 5 Coach in all of football. His offense doesn't work in the NFL? He made the playoffs in his first season. Has made Mark Sanchez look half arse decent.

Next, take a look back at Alabama's few losses since Saban got the ball rolling over there. What kind of offenses seem to give him the most trouble?

Use your goddamn brain man.

I disagree, completely. Couple that offense with good special teams and a good to very good D, and you're contending. Like many good managers you have to identify your weaknesses and either fix them or surround yourself with people to fix them for you. That's where the Defense comes in with Kelly. By the way, he's always had good s/teams, and not just in the return game.

My biggest want for Kelly would be that he is one helluva a teacher, thus communicator (not talking about press conferences). He's excellent and communicating plan A, B, & C and the indicators/triggers for those plans. That's why he always seems to find ways to get the ball in playmakers hands.

Are you trolling for a reason? Kelly has been definitive on being an NFL coach the moment he left Oregon. Read the stuff he said when his name came up on the Florida gig. He laughed and said he would hang up on them.

He considers himself an NFL coach and he intends on staying there. It is pretty clear he looks down on college football, do you really want someone like that as your HC? I sure don't.

Les Miles is certainly backed into a corner now. Let's see what he can do without being in his comfort zone anymore. It's do or die it seems

Agree 100% if Les doesn't show marked improvement this year and a coach LSU wants is out there I think he gets eased out. By a wrecking ball.

I'm not trolling at all...

I'm talking a YEAR from now. A lot can happen in a year, you know...

I bet if you had asked Harbaugh if he would be the new coach at Michigan last year, then he would've laughed as well.

Didn't Saban consider himself an NFL head coach after he left?

Things change, people change, situations change...

My point, is that it's a POSSIBILITY that it could happen. And, considering the thoughts on the offense on here, I wanted to see what people thought about THAT possibility.

GTFO with trolling...please.

I would love to have Kelly as HC. But He would really have to have a bad year to be fired. Like a 6-10 season.

Miles will not be fired, miles will be allowed to retire from LSU and miles wouldn't retire after an 8 win season unless he point blank lost his mojo For miles to be fired there would need to be a catastrophic failure in either the on field product or compliance/ethics. A 2-10 type of disaster or a petrino type of scandal. 10 yrs of .790 football, two SEC Championships, and a NC get you a lot of rope. Chip Kelly is not leaving the NFL either
there it is! Troof - most sane post I've read in this thread.

I would not say likely. I don't know if I have the confidence in the administration to make the tough choice to let Miles go. I hope it doesn't come to that. The more I think about it, I think there was more to this whole Chavis deal. Either Chavis suspects this thing is fixing to go south very fast and Les will get run off or he thinks Les will retire soon. Because if you know Les will be hear the next 4-5 years why are you so determined that he his contract not be tied with the HC? Maybe I am crazy but something just smells about this.

Agree with this.

I don't know if he would be my first choice. Would depend on who is available.

Kelly has outright laughed at going back to college, said his offense is a pro offense that doesn't work as well in college and said he "burned the boats" that would take him back to college but hey things change right?

Yeah, his offense at Oregon sucked...
