What are the chances Brennan will redshirt....

now that Narcisse and Mac. are gone? That would give him 2 years after Borrow is gone.

He will definitely play in more than 4 games. O has to use him when he can to get him some game experience. If Burrow goes down with an injury, Brennan is the only real option.

He can play in 4 games and still redshirt. As long as Burrow stays healthy and doesn’t completely shite the bed, it’s almost certainly going to happen.

He will likely redshirt unless Burrow gets injured or struggles.
In the event Burrow goes down or doesn’t have it, then obviously we wouldn’t have a choice and losing Brennan’s redshirt would be necessary and unavoidable.
But yes, if everything goes as planned, Brennan will play in 4 games or less and redshirt.
If and when Brennan does play, it will be significant Playing time. Brennan will not be put in for mere garbage time or simply taking a knee.
In the event Burrow goes down or doesn’t have it, then obviously we wouldn’t have a choice and losing Brennan’s redshirt would be necessary and unavoidable.

Any four games, including postseason games.
Whether a player plays 1 snap or 70 snaps it counts as 1 game. As long as Brennan doesn’t play in more than 4 games, he will be able to redshirt.

we could still get him good experience and redshirt him. He only played in 6 games last year and some of those were just garbage time. He could and should play a lot in 4 games

Brennan was the backup last year. He saw action in 6 total games (BYU, UT Chattanooga, Syracuse, Troy, Alabama, and A&M). The only games he played anything that could be called significant were Troy, Alabama (kind of), and Syracuse. If he is only used on an as-needed basis, then he could easily only play in 4 games, remain our backup, and keep his redshirt. In the BYU, UT Chatt, and A&M games, he only played because we were blowing out our opponent and took a few snaps. If we keep him out of games like that, then we wouldn't need to burn his RS.

He will almost definitely play against Southeastern, La Tech, and Rice. That's 3 right there. It's a good bet that LSU will be comfortably ahead in at least 2 other games (i.e. Ole Miss, Arkansas) and/or that Burrow gets nicked up in a game or two. It's extremely doubtful that Brennan redshirts, IMO.

The other concern is that we have to leave burrow in garbage time trying to keep Brennan’s redshirt and he gets hurt in a meaningless time. That’s the worst part about losing McMillan.

Could shite happen and we have to scrap that plan? Absolutely! Next man up and to hell with Brennan’s redshirt if Burrow gets hurt or stinks. Brennan has to be ready to be the guy this year if needed.

It’s not the plan I guarantee you. If it happens it’s a luxury because of the new rule. But I promise you the staff isn’t trying to redshirt him.
