Lower season ticket prices.

Fat chance. Mine went up $500 after going 2-15 in the SEC in 2009.

Of the last six LSU basketball coaching hires, the two with the most impressive pre-LSU resumés were Press Maravich and Trent Johnson, and they were clearly the two worst. Rabenhorst, Brown, Brady, and Jones all have in common that they achieved not a damn thing before coming to LSU...but Rabenhorst, Brown, and Brady all won the SEC and went to the Final Four.

I expect nothing less of Johnny Jones.

With the SEC still being down except for the big 2, I have to say if Jones can just be an average X's and O's coach, LSU should finish above .500 in the SEC and possibly make NCAA.

More of the same, but I will be pulling for him.

JJ did OK at a large school in a weak conference.

Recruiting issues aside, LSU had a serious issues with fundamentals, turnovers, and lack of discipline during JJ's tenure as Brown's top assistant.

Having an all world class son for a player does wonders for your head coaching abilities.

But I digress.

If Jones brings LSU to the Final Four in the next few years, he will be given Saban like status around here amongst LSU fans.

Realistic expectations are for him to just make the tourney every year or so.

NIT first year, NCAA 2nd year, NCAA win 3rd year, Sweet 16 fourth year, Final 4 Fifth year. Those are my expectations. Shaka Smart took VCU to the Final 4 in 2 years with players recruited by a previous coach. No reason Johnny cant get LSU there in 5 years with the good young talent in Louisiana in Martin and Bridgewater plus the Hammink boys. All we need is a good center and the pieces of the puzzle are there.

Such a shame that Hamilton is gone. Next year's team could have been really good with him at center.

If Trent was still here and we were going to still be playing his style of ball I would agree but with a fast break style offense he would have been a lot less valuable. What we need now is Hammink and Coleman to come on board so that a streaking Hickey will have someone who he can fire the ball to as they cut in from the wings.

Man imagine pelle running the floor on the break catching the ball about a foot above the rim off the alley oop by hickey

if we got Pelle I'd commence fapping at any moment.

Hickey
Turner
Coleman
O'Bryant
Pelle

Morgan, Stringer, Courtney, Ludwig, Hammink, Isaac, maybe a JUCO big... thin in the post but would be a solid team to start rebuilding with.
