What do you guys think are realistic expectations of the LSU basketball program? It seems that in recent years, the elite players all line up to attend UNC, Duke, UConn, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. I don't expect us to ever be in that group.

If Jones is successful given the resources available to him, what should we expect?

Would not expect shite for the first season as Trent left the cupboard pretty empty, quit at the last minute, and leaving JJ with little to recruit with. While he was not my choice I feel for him this first year and am pissed at TJ for doing such a shite job on recruiting.

my expectations is for the team to get to a point where they make frequent appearances in the NCAA tourney.

My expectations are to recruit well. If we can't do that, we'll continue to be mediocre. If we can land some top guys we will see improvement on the court. Until we know who else is coming next year, and who may be leaving, it's hard to gauge next season. Losing Hamilton is still a big blow, no matter how you shake it.

I'll be happy next year if we can get a decent recruiting class and our half court offense isn't the ugliest thing known to man anymore.

For this year:

1. We look like we're actually running an offense.

2. Make the NIT

3. Recruit well.

I think the NIT is a little unrealistic right now. Jones is coming into a very bad situation here - just lost arguably the most important player, no time to recruit, etc. He deserves a year before we have expectations like this, IMO.

Imagine this line up for 2013-2014

Hickey
Turner
Coleman
Gathers
O'Bryant

bench: Stringer, Isaac, Courtney, Martin, Bridgewater, Hammink, Morgan

I'm trying to be optimistic here! the gotygers cat says we can't win with players ranked so low like Gathers, Martin, and Bridgewater

i think martin goes to da ville or a bigger program depending on what kinda summer he has. could also see us reeling him in if yonny brings the heat.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect this program to fight for a 4/5/6 seed each year in the NCAA tournament.
