... I'm expecting a crazy one," West Virginia standout running back Noel Devine said. "That's when you just want to go in and quiet all of the critics, quiet their fans and just go and play ball and show people in the country what we're capable of doing."

"Quiet their fans?" Good luck with that one, Dude.

IMO, the only way that Death Valley stays loud throughout the game is if the score stays within a touchdown one way or the other until 0:00

Uhhhhhhhh, sorry poopie but that could easily happen... The fans that go to games nowadays are worthless if we aren't winning against an inferior team

Devine won't be playing against Coastal Carolina, Marshall or Maryland. If you look at the scores in the games those teams lost, one would bet on Southern University against any one of the three.

Exactly Sprint.

Also, the crowd won't be a problem for the WHOLE game. Just the first 10-15 mins until the team becomes accustomed to it.

Devine's been playing about 9 years, I'm sure he can handle some noise.

Noise is going to be the least of WV problems.

SkippyM,

You've obviously never been to a football game in Tiger Stadium.

"I've never had that many people yell that loud, that long, and at me!" - Charles White, former USC running back, after their comeback victory over LSU on 9/29/1979.

Question for you.... if a WVU grad divorces his wife and then marries her sister, are they all still cousins?

Tiger Stadium has lost a little of it's intensity.

Blame the ageing fan base.
Blame the increase cost to attend game.
Blame increase Saints fanbase, possibly decreasing the LSU fanbase.

Whatever it is...The beginning of the DiNardo era was MUCH louder than what we have now.

Maybe fans have elevated expectations, so unless the Tigers are blowing teams out and winning all the home games, they aren't excited.

The crowd during the Virginia Tech game was pretty loud throughout.

I never heard anything in the Dinardo era as loud as the 2003 UGA or 2007 Florida game.

Maybe the 97 Florida game.

The cheer that went up at the Twillie interception at the end of the "Bring Back the Magic" game was right up there. For me, that wasn't topped until Florida 2007. I wasn't at the '97 Florida, but from people who were at both the '95 Auburn and '97 Florida, I understand they were comparable and comparable to the Earthquake game.

This.

And the reaction after uga scored on the 93 yard screen has not been duplicated since.

I've never been a prouder tigerfan than that moment.

I was at all three of these games, and there is absolutely no camparison between the first two and the Earthquake game. The Earthquake game is the single loudest explosion of noise that you can imagine mixed in with utter jubilation. The Florida game was sustained noise and the 95 Auburn game was sustained with a blast of relief. The Earthquake game is on a level of it's own in the modern era and probably only compares to a few games in history before my time.

The other games were different, but this was probably the coolest thing I have ever experienced. I think the fans finally bought into how good that team was and decided they needed to step up.
