I seem to be getting a vibe from LSU fans that we will be able to run over them and that their defense is a little weak. Just to bring things back to reality, in three games their opponents are averaging 250 yards/game and only 63 yards rushing/game. Granted, their opponents have been fairly weak, but I'm just saying their defense doesn't seem to be a weak link here. They have also not given up a rushing TD yet.

Yea. I posted that I was worried about the 3-3-5 and a guy responded that we would run all over it.

the 3-3-5 overcompensates against the run and in the pass rush. Someone blitzes on every play, from different angles and it's often hard to pickup.

They are more suscetible to the deep ball.

2 FCS teams - Marshall, Coastal Carolina
1 FBS basketball school - Maryland (1-11 in 2009)

What would our stats look like with that lineup ?

I'll take that all day with a RB like Ridley. He has shown an ability to make quick cuts and get upfield...I'm expecting a big game from #34

Bring on the blitz

So it defaults to a 4-3 with one of the 4 being undersized ? Scary.

Our defense and special teams sets up a shorter field. Makes it awful hard on any defense to stop us from scoring..

They've played:

Coastal Carolina, won 31-0
Marshall, won 24-21
Maryland, won 31-17

I say LSU wins this game. WVU won't know what hit them. ... actually they'll see the LSU Defense in their backfield all night, so yes, they'll know what hit them.

Sorry, Marshall is an FBS school. They play in C-USA. They went 7-6 last year and went to a bowl game.

I can't imagine our defense giving up more than 14 points to those 3 teams combined.

By the way, I'm not saying I don't think we can move the ball on them. I'm just saying it doesn't appear that their defense is a weakness. I think there is a perception that West Virginia is all offense, but they play some decent D there.

they haven't played any decent teams; they don't have huge linemen and backers; they don't have any backs that fit the mold of our backs to practice against. this should be a different typr of challenge for our oline, but i think we should be able to wear on them. if we had a dominant 240 lb fb, then i would say we demolish them, but we don't. if we get them speard out with the passing game, i think the rb's could have a good game.

OK, forgive me for not being familiar with Marshall. That is really going to help your SOS when the BCS rankings come out.

But you're comparing their D to ours. We KNOW our D is awesome. Put it this way, how would our O do against our D? Could we score 14? 7?

I would think Ridley would be the kind of back you want to use in this situation to wear down the undersized defenders. The option and sweeps way outside might not be the way to attack this team. GC might also try to force a smaller man to cover Deangelo on routes to stop them from run blitzing every play.
