"Never" has various uses in common speech. "I never go there." "I never order salad." "We never lose to A&M." Etc. It may mean I literary never do something, I rarely do something, or I just don't do something nearly as often as one might expect.

A lot of words. None of them related to the topic. "Never" has a meaning, in fact.

You just made his point for him. You used the word none here when it is obviously not appropriate. Clearly, some of his words were related to the topic.

You're arguing against yourself here. I never do that.

I'm sure they watch tape, so this is likely taken out of context.

however, if they are doing it to gameplan, then that's something refreshing to see.

usually, it seemed like we tried to just worry about what we do, both good and bad, rather than gameplanning around certain matchups.

how many times have we played a team that was susceptible to the pass and we just refused to challenge them where they hurt? just ran our gameplan no matter what. and to be fair to miles and cam, it worked alot of the time.

Of course they watched film. So did the coaching staff. Basically the staff did the heavy watching, prepared their practices and game plan around what they saw and used practices to communicate that to the players.

O is practicing less on the field and more in the film room.

The hysterical ignorance of the LSU fanbase is astounding.

This is like that movie "Room" where the little kid has no idea there is a huge world outside of the box he's been living in.

Calm down everyone. They are changing from field time to more extensive individual film study. Of course lineman like this better. I was a lineman too and any advantage I could get over my opponent I wanted. Plus u replace 2-3 hours of practice in hot son with sitting in Ac room dronking gatoraid and every lineman on the planet likes that better. If they play better it will stay this way

There is no hidden contextual meaning in the quotes. The players said what they meant. It's not wordplay in a poem with symbolism. It's first-hand accounts of what happened during practices.

So they meant that they don't watch film? Is that what you're insinuating?

If so, I can tell you unequivocally that is incorrect.

Clapp is not saying they never watched film. He's saying they've never had a film session focused on an opponent's tendencies.

As I've already said, that's a red flag in regards to the overall philosophy of the offense.

He's not even really saying that. He's saying less practice time and more film and meeting time is new. He's never done it that way at LSU.

Again, I promise you the OL watched film for tendencies. Under Miles they looked at the tendencies and figured ways to handle them given LSU's scheme. Perhaps under O they'll look for ways to exploit the tendencies, even if that means changing the scheme.

That is what fans had been calling for from Miles.

Except it is what he said, literally. You're acting like the 2nd part of the quote is meaningless.

ETA: It seems to me he's saying it's all a new approach. The shortened practices and the approach to film.

If you think "never" applies to never picking up on tendencies, then you can argue it applies to watching film at all.

Again, I know unequivocally that they watched film and working on tendencies. The part they've never done is an hour or so of practice and 2+ hours of meetings and film. If you're going to watch much more film and have meetings, it makes sense that he's explaining how they'll fill those hours, but it doesn't mean it was non-existent before Sunday.

I honestly cannot believe we're still discussing this 10+ pages later.

ETA: I see our edit and we're on the same page. Essentially the routine is new. Hopefully they'll change the game plan to attack weaknesses as well.

Huge red flag and one would have to assume this isn't just isolated to the O Line. Hearing this explains much when we played down to so many teams through the years. Just a straight up incredible admission. Verifys we were purely winning on talent.

it's amazing when you think about it.

just amazing.
