great post. JL was thrown into the fire when not ready and is being judged on that performance...but remember he did win some games that year. JJ has been coddled for over a year and is not making ANY progress. Except for the pick-6's (which are bad) JL is heads above JJ. It's time for a change. Even hard headed Les seems to realize this based on his post game comments.

one completion doesn't mean anything. But give him a hot late in a game and see what he can do. I don't want to throw the Moo state game seeing if J Lee has come around. Do you?

How old are you???

Did you watch the 2nd half of the Auburn game in 2008???

Go watch it and tell me if JL was in the groove or not.

Son, we watch football before your parents were born.

I don't see how the WR's and rest of offense couldn't be down on JJ at this point. They are all friends and JJ's a good kid so no-one would say it out in public.
I honestly could see JL's situation having happened to Favre if thrown in as a Freshman. I think JL is a gunslinger. He may throw some INT's but will also win us some games with his slinging it. Gunslingers sometimes can lose you a game, as does Favre. Trouble is in college ball and the SEC in particular we can't afford to lose as many games as an NFL team and still contend for title. At this point I am in the JL camp. Let's give him his shot with some confidence behind him ie. don't "boo" the darn kid at the first INT. If he throws a pic then he sits and watches JJ for a series or two but is back in after that. We got two years with one of these guys. Les better figure it out quick I hope. My biggest concern is that JL obviously still throwing some INT's in practise or something to not already have had a bigger shot with JJ's lack of production and Les/Crowton just unable to deal with more of a gunslinger type player like JL. How will they handle it when he does throw a INT because it will happen?
With the WR core we have I say get the gunslinger in and lets score more than the other team. If he throws a INT then thats what our mighty D-Fence is for.

for once I couldn't agree with you more. Time to let JL get a little playing time against Moo State just to see how his game has progressed and to see if we can get improved play from the QB position. What could anyone have against that?

JJ can start, but since they script all the plays anyway to start the game, script in JLee for a couple of first half series and then go from there. I'd rather start JLee and give him a full and legitimate chance to see what he can do as a Jr QB, and see if he can put the past behind him and turn into the QB we all thought he would be back when Pat Summerall was doing special videos of him.

Atleast this would curb the boos that are sure to follow if JJ plays bad in the 1st half.

letting Lee play against miss st. is hardly throwing the game considering what JJ did against vandy.

i'm not saying Lee should start but he should definitely see snaps in the first half...we have to fix this problem in the first half or we'll lose this game...

Is anybody really confident that Miles is going to make the right decision and start Lee? I'm sure as hell not!

I would bet my next paycheck that #9 is going to come running out against MSU.

By the way, I agree about Lee - it's time to give him more than mop up duty. We've given JJ 17 chances vs Lee's 8 chances.

Miles owes Lee another shot.

I said this during the season last year, and TheDoc and Antonio kept parroting completion % and showing and reshowing the video of the one good pass he has thrown over the past two seasons. And believe me, from seeing it in person, it was thrown damn near too late. I really think he peaked in the Chicken Bowl against Georgia Tech.

Wow. So, did you watch Saturday's game? What makes you think that JJ will allow us to get the game in hand? The definition of insanity is continuing to repeat an action hoping for a different outcome, and I have had enough. Give us Lee. Now.

i'm definitely not confident that miles will work this out...it's the only major issue we have...we have the players to win but a coach that lacks intensity and the will to use other players when something's not right

Would anyone besides me like to see a stat line like that? With the difference being the Chief's crew holds them to single digits compared to the disaster we called a defense in 2008. And our 2010 receiving corp >>>> 2008 receiving corp (especially after Byrd gave up)

another case for lee IMO is the 4th quarter of the troy state game.. we put up like 35 points or something that quarter and he was slinging the ball. I dont care who you are playing that is impressive

Based on JJ´s poor performance and lack of progression, it is simply time to make a change and give JL a fair chance. Yes - he stunk up Tiger Stadium against Tech last year but JJ stunk up the Vandy stadium last week. And prior to that , he has been average at best. Good kid, average QB.

JL needs a fair chance to show if he has progressed or not. Putting him in during slop time will not show if he has or has not. With all he has put up with from LSU fans and particularly this board, and the staying power he has shown, he has earned a fair chance.

Then if he does not perform, we will have to look elsewhere. No one should be entitled to play if they do not perform.

If he takes the field Saturday, it will be the first time he will be applauded rather than booed in TS. I think this will go a long way in building confidence in himself. And I think a confident Lee can play the position fairly well.

Lee looks like he has lost some weight and obviously has been working hard in practice according to reports. Even though it was Vandy in the 4th quarter he sure seemed to look more confident than at any point last year. With our weapons on offense we don't need to get overly fancy, just get the ball to Randle, Shepard, and TT and let them rack up yards after the catch. JL could execute this attack well with a good gameplan. Whatever happens with JJ or JL, the LSU fans should never boo our own players. Even if he never starts another game for LSU you have to admire Lee for staying at LSU after the fans booed him in Tiger Stadium last year.

People forget that Lee would have beaten UGA that year, pick 6 included, had he had ANY kind of a defense with him.
