He would be a home run hire.

And someone please start a thread explaining how Baylor's "major" violations are not that big of a deal so people can see what he was doing. People are acting as if he bought a player a BMW. He called and texted recruits too many times. Big deal.
I thought so, too, at first. However, see the link I posted in my post just before this one.

Dunno about Drew after reading that article. I didnt realize he had a dirty stigma.
Any reason we shouldnt look for someone from the Kansas-UNC-Duke-(insert any CBB powerhouse) coaching tree?
If you want to be among the best, learn from the best.

Thayer Evans sounds a little Butt Hurt. The other sport writters are down playing the report. Most calls were less than a minute, meaning no answer and I believe is not a violation since the rule change. Some unanswered calls were converted to Text also no longer a violation(I'm told).
Th major finding getting writers to talk up your recuits is not so bad.
The former coach who allegedly text that a recruit would be deported unless he attended BU sounds like the coach was fired.

I know he had a really good year last season, but isn't he winning at less than 40% in like 9 seasons in conference play, winning at 55% over all, and finish better than 4th in the conference twice in 9 years?
Not saying I know who the next guy should be, but what, besides 2 final 8 appearences, makes Drew the guy?
I posted this in another thread but I think its appropriate here.
The guy pulled off the single largest rebuilding project in sports history. Patrick Dennhey was MURDERED BY A TEAMMATE. I repeat. One baylor player murdered another baylor player. Thats in addition to sanctions incurred by the previous regime. Think about that. Think about going into a families house and trying to get them to send their 18 year old son to a place where that is going on. Rebuilding LSU is a cakewalk compared to that. BTW I couldnt care any less about how shady of a recruiter Drew may or may not be. He wins.
As for me....Drew or bust

Realistically, I doubt LSU hires anyone who has NCAA issues, considering the probation we're on for football. LSU doesn't want to give the NCAA any additional reason to put us under the microscope. And it's hard to blame LSU for being cautious in this regard. I doubt very seriously it will be Drew (or anyone with NCAA issues for that matter).
Drew may be a great coach, but the timing is just not right to be LSU's coach. I wouldn't get your hopes up for Drew, because there is likely a slim-to-none chance that it will be him.
All that said, I'd still be very excited if it was Drew.

I dont want Drew. Sure he has great recruiting classes but they dont produce. Everytime i watched Baylor, i saw bad team chemistry and bad coaching. I want Mike D' Antoni

Drew can't and won't leave Baylor in the situation it is in now. He went there to rebuild the program so he can't leave it in trouble with the NCAA. LSU can't afford to have that rep either of hiring a coach that is illegally recruiting. And Drew recruits well but I don't think the Louisiana recruits fits his system. And we want a Louisiana bred team.

Yeah, Lacedarius Dunn and Tweety Carter sure were awful when Baylor made the elite 8 a couple years ago.

Calipari has a bad recruiting rep. Fact
Petrino has a bad recruiting rep. Fact
After a 3 year investigation Scott Drew and the womens BB coach were popped with impermissible phone calls. Most of these phone calls should have been caught by Baylor's compliance department. In other words, Baylor's compliance department sucks. After 3 years, phone calls and texts are all that the NCAA can dig up on Scott Drew. That is nothing. Would you trade that for a sweet 16? An elite 8? I would. In a heartbeat.
The point I'm trying to make is that college basketball is a dirty business. After a 3 yr investigation, phone calls are all they found. Is Scott Drew dirtier than that? Possibly. But if he can win and recruit who cares. That is the nature of the beast.
Would our football program fare so well after a 3 yr investigation? Prolly not.
