The Harris debacle is a blessing in disguise. Etling will be given the reigns, first team reps, and a home game against a good-but-not intimidating Miss State squad. Harris, with his tweeting and missing-the-alma-mater self, has probably lost best man status even with Miles, and McMillan seems to have Cam's confidence as a backup if Harris does not improve his attitude and performance. Myles Brennan and Lindsey Scott are both very solid and potentially very special QB's (looking beyond 2017).

All this means that the nearly 8 year QB draught (aside from Zach Mett) are behind us. McMillan, Etling and Scott all seem like solid cerebral QB's with adequate-or-strong wheels.

I am not saying we go undefeated the rest of the way, but I think it will be incredibly hard for Miles to return to his old ways now. NOT IMPOSSIBLE, but very tough.

We get through this season with an admirable 10 or 11 wins, and with an outside chance of hitting all the pre-season goals still, and even with the loss of talent, we will be postured for a solid 2017 and beyond.

And if Miles does resort to his old ways and we do not play well in the Novemeber SEC stretch, he gone, and we'll have new hope in that case as well.

I think Lambeau represented the bottom. Costly for many, but if it is the bottom, we will recoup fine from here on out.

I agree. This is the beginning of the decent to the bottom. It'll get worse towards the end of the year. Perhaps the middle. Say Florida game.

I cautiously agree.

If de can play like he did Saturday, that's all we need. The rest of the team is stacked, and I think the humbling loss in Wisconsin, all the tragedy around BR, and Danny taking a leadership role could really bring this team together into something special

The schedule sets up nicely too with games getting progressively tougher giving etling and the offense time to grow and sync up, the defense time to grow into Aranda's scheme, and young players like valentine, white, the young dlineman time to get ready for big boy football and make contributions

I say that with a big hesitation of so many years of high expectations turning into baffling performances which I can only blaim on coaching

Bottom is losing to Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M.

But that's the problem. The clear goal this year was a SEC championship and a playoff spot. This was a veteran team with a top 5 ranking. Losing to Wisc doesn't quite kill the season, but it'll now take a miracle. A miracle would be running the table. Another loss likely bumps LSU out of the playoffs.

I think AU beats us. They have an awesome defensive line and we always seem to play shitty at Jordan-Hare.

Lets see how things go against MS. I had hoped BH was going to show lots of improvement this year and I was really hyped for this season. He didn't and I am glad we tried someone else.

DE looks like he has a lot of poise and potential. Will see how he does against an SEC foe. If he looks worse then BH then I hope we take a look at someone else.

If however he looks better then BH has lets see how the season goes. Don't think its going to be tough for him to better BH's numbers but you never know.

We haven't gone anywhere until people stop talking about Harris - period. Good, bad, or indifferent, it appears it is Etling going forward and the conversation should focus on him.

The Harris talk has overtaken the rant tonight but hopefully it has no bearing on the team.

Ten wins with our deepest and most experienced team in years is far from "admirable."

For one you don't know what bottoming out is as far as LSU football goes , of course I say that sort of jokingly since I think you mean this year ...

I too used to be optimistic about miles changing but I refuse to ever have an optimistic outlook as the "arse hatter " is in charge ..

This why LSU loses so many games especially in the mighty SEC. Overconfidence! 1st take care of the Bulldogs, if possible with your prehistoric offensive scheme. Then consentrate on the next game at Auburn. Remember 2014 Auburn destroyed LSU 41-7. Aurburn almost beat a great Clemson team this year. 1 game at a time. Les Miles is famous for layinf an egg or two.

I agree. been saying this for 3 weeks. auburn beats us by shutting down our running game. a healthy Lawson, along with adams, Russell and marlon Davidson ( who I think is gonna be the best of them all ).

Nice try but.... You guys are not looking closely enough at this team. QB is a problem, but the OL is an even more glaring one. We have issues at the tackles and the tight ends can't block for shite. And we have Miles who will still believe he can run right over people.

I thought bottom was losing 3/4 games in November last year.

Losing to Wisky gave me new meaning to the words "rock bottom".

I am excited to see the team play like they did in the 2nd qtr against Jax st.....but I don't think I can be very optimistic that we win the west.

I think the suicide/homicide crowd are taking it a little over board with their dramatic, fire LM right now and escort him out of the state. I think his prime has passed, and he needs to go- but realistically- I don't believe that getting rid of him today means we win any more games than we do with him here. In fact, I think we lose more.

I'm just trying to take it week by week, and not get too caught up in either extreme.

I'll get roasted but 10 wins with this team may keep Miles around. Have you watched the offensive line.
