Who did you want in 05? We were all so blindsided that I do not know what the best option was. Of course, people screamed stupidity like Jimmie Johnson, Jack Del Rio, and Dan Hawkins. But, I don't know who would have come aboard for 11 years and win over 100 games?>???

Les deserves it NOW, but let us not forget he has won 2 SEC and 1 NC.

in hindsight, they probably should've promoted Jimbo.

Yeah I was going to say... Les definitely hasn't been the ideal coach throughout his tenure, but he did accomplish some things here. He was definitely not the best coach for the long term but it worked out well for awhile.

That said, it's definitely time for a change.

I wanted Spurrier, but he was hired right before Saban made his obvious departure.

LSU had jimbo fisher. Should have promoted him to head coach.

The only other realistic option was Bobby Petrino

The fans would have hated that. A year later, they were ready to crucify him for the 2006 loss to Auburn. But at that time, who knows how it would have worked. Jimbo was likely our guy last year until that meeting. Jimbo and what he did with that 2001 offense should speak loudly for him, no matter what the job may be.

I've said this a bunch of times lately, but Les was a good coach in the mid 00s. The problem is he never evolved while the game is completely different now. Saban evolved and that's why he stayed on top.

They wanted to run Jimbo and the bubble screen out of town when he was OC.

Let's be fair. Miles has won and won a lot. His style was smothering defenses good ST's and ball control. Problem is he hasn't adapted to the game. It's like a Fortune 500 co. Still running from spread sheets. He did good things at okie state. Remember pre miles they were horrible. He was 2-2 v's Oklahoma and accomplished more than they had seen in a long time. Point is he wasn't a bad hire and was good enough in his prime to keep Lsu a perinnial power. Now it's time for him to retire. I can only hope we contend in the west and he somehow gets 10 wins and moves on.
