This could kill our chances of getting to
Omaha this year. We really don't
have an ace. And the bullpen is questionable.
Recently we are not fooling too many
Opposing hitters. I hate how the umps
this weekend squeezed the strike zone.
Just venting!!!!

95 pitches going into the 9th. That's what aces do. Poche won't blow anyone away with his stuff but when he's on the mound he competes and makes sure at the end of the game we have a chance to win.

Where do we rank nationally in walks by our pitchers? And in the SEC? Some stats maybe needed.

We are currently the consensus #1 team in the country, so if walking batters is our problem I'll take it.

Currently ranked 74th of 295 teams in walks per nine innings. So...that's still upper 25% of all teams.

Although, it seems these stats do not include this past weekend's games.

Yep. One game would put us in first place and not drop a spot in the RPI, but go ahead...

I was trying to get at was that it's wrong to say that we walk to many batters based off one one game.

While yes, the pitchers' command in the game Saturday was atrocious, it doesn't reflect on the entire staff. I also think that we've been spoiled by Nola and his best BB/K in LSU history for starters.

Hopefully Florida can take of Vandy next weekend so we can control our own destiny in terms of winning the overall SEC regular season title. (not that it matters)

The regular season title doesn't really matter. What matters is that we're a top 8 seed going into the NCAA tournament.

ETA: Which were a lock for if we win the next two series.

You're catching a lot of flak, but you're dead on (except for the strike zone non sequitur). If Lange doesn't return to form we're not going to make noise in Omaha. If he does, though, all of this will start to look a lot better. We pitch a lot of guys right now who will not see much action in a Super Regional or in Omaha.

If Lange and Poche are pitching well I like our game 1/2 chances with Newman, Person and Stallings in relief. And if you win the first two you are very likely in the championship series.
