Arkansas can beat Bama but their defense will have to be able to stop Bama's run game. Bama destroyed Arky's offense the past 2 years, so the key here will be if Arky's D can keep them from running wild.

UF, AU and LSU are the best bets to beat Bama. I really like that Florida plays Bama the week before they play us.

Why do people keep saying stuff like this? For all the crap Les gets, he has had his team ready to play Bama the past two years. We are the only team who's really been able to run on them and if we had solid QB play we beat them both years. Last year our WRs made their DBs look like Stevie Wonder but Jefferson just couldn't get it done nor could Lee when he got in.

If LSU gets better QB play, they win. Having said that, Bama is still the favorite because they have a proven QB and are the defending National Champs.

We do have our challenges this year:

Penn State, Arky, Florida, USCe, LSU and Auburn

As with all teams, a lot will depend on our kids staying healthy.

Toughest games - LSU in Tiger Stadium and Florida at home. Both of these teams loaded with great athletes.

Best chance for upset - Arkansas and USCe

any of those teams CAN beat us...this is the SEC

I mean LSU returns only 4 starters on defense and only 4 on offense

so if

Alabama had players step up who ended up better than those they replaced

Then why can't this happen with us?....oh I forgot...we have Miles and they have Saban

I said it because it's true. Believe me, I detest Alabama, but I'm realistic enough to understand that Bama is simply better than LSU. The tide is ranked no. 1 for reason and anyone who thinks there be some big dropoff in Bama's performance this season is simply delusional. The Shula recruits have been weeded out and many teams will have to deal with the monster that Saban has built in Tuscaloosa. I hate it as much as any LSU supporter but I've come to grips with it.

You made a statement about Alabama losing players without acknowledging LSU had losses as well. Of course, every debate is Saban/Les with you it doesn't matter if the topic at hand did not even have to do with either coach.
Could LSU improve? Yes Could LSU decline? Yes
However you do not want to think LSU will regress only that Florida and Alabama will regress. For some reason you like to make topics a Nick vs Les thing more than they should and this is a prime example, I never mentioned Nick or Les and you thrust their names into the discussion. Obviously you are a rantard and incapable of a rationale discussion and I should have known that. The fact you have to throw a comparison of the two out there when it was never mentioned or implied by me shows that you are the one concerned about it.
I also find it funny you are taking 2 separate arguments and trying to combine them into 1 as though I said it. One was about the number of players Alabama lost which I countered with how many LSU lost, the other was about Alabama complacency with I also answered without mentioning LSU. You turned this into another Saban vs Nick thread I could speculate why, but it is probably mainly because you have no real argument and your initial stance was very shaky without reasoning.

It didn't?
Quote 1 about LSU by the OP:
quote:

is favored to win the West. So, in order for our Tigers to get back to Atlanta we certainly have to beat 'Bama.

Quote 2, by 2nd person:
quote:

bama loses to us and florida

Quote 3:
quote:

How about we don't lose or we lose once to anyone but Bama...that way we control our own destiny? We would then own the tie breaker.

Looks like just in first 4 comments (1 by me) LSU was mentioned every single time huh?

i think the common denominator in most possible teams to beat bama will be that they(bama) will be A.on the road B.in front of what are sure to be hostile crowds and C.will be playing against teams who will matchup well in some form or fashion.

Arkansas: they are at home and have an incredible offense, especially passing game, to matchup with bama's secondary. their one problem may be stopping bama from rushing for 250 and keeping mallet of the field.

Florida: ok while bama will be at home, florida will have just as much talent and probably more athleticism on D than bama. plus you can bet that urb and the returners from last year will be hungry to get revenge.

South Carolina: many people see this as a trap game for Saban and Co. i do also. south carolina will have an experienced qb and talented wr's to throw to along with what is typically a d that plays inspired at home. the thing that works most in the favor for the cocks is the fact that bama will be coming off a very emotional and tough game against florida.

Lastly, LSU: this game will be played in front of probably the most hostile crowd in the sec and contrary to popular belief, bama has not dominated against us over the past two years. some might even say that bama was lucky that lee threw 4 ints in 2008 and that pp cramped up last year. but anyways, we will matchup well in the secondary to bamas wr unit and that confidence in the db's will allow chavis to stack the box in run situations and then turn mingo, adams, and montgomery loose on obvious passing downs.

Overall, i feel like psu won't challenge bama due to lack of elite skill and auburn will be catching bama when most of their inexperienced players will have almost a full year of sec football under their belt. i'll say that bama losses will come from USCe and LSU to give them a 10-2 record where we would also be 10-2 and win the head to head tie breaker and get to ATL for a rematch with UF

LSU beats Bama and is tied for the west with bama with one loss in the west....

Someone else has to beat bama.... would be grat if it were LSU and Florida!

In the unlikely event that Alabama does slip up a few times and fails to win the West, LSU is not likely to be the beneficiary. Arkansas is more likely than LSU to be the one to win it if Alabama doesn't.

This year our Offense is better than their Defense.

If so, that might be the biggest turnaround in one unit vs. another in modern college football history. If last year's #112 offense is better this year than last year's #1 defense, I will be shocked.

I think you mean DEFINITELY not going to be the beneficiary...right? I mean...Miles is still the coach....and we all know Miles will never beat bama or UF again.

Unlikely event that Alabama slips up and doesn't win the west? Do you seriously think that Alabama won't lose the west again? Talk about chicken little syndrome. Then you pick Arkansas with the one of the worst defenses in the conference as the team with the best chance? That's almost as laughable as your Alabama penis envy. I know you hate miles but letting that clutter your mind up blocking any chance at rational thought is not the way to go.

No way Auburn comes in to BDS this year and wins. I think it will be another blow out like the year before last. We will own Auburn this year at home.

I'm talking about this year. And yes, I seriously think Alabama won't lose the West this year.

Yes, along with the consensus of pretty much everybody in the country, I pick Arkansas as the second best team in the West.

No, he won't beat them, but it is conceivable that a team could lose to Alabama and still win the West, but yes, I do think it's unlikely that LSU would be the team to unseat them, assuming someone does.

How about Saban going for his third regular season in a row undefeated...think that's a more likely scenario. The man reminds me of when Jimmy Johnson was coaching...puts football above his family, relationship with God, and any other interests unmentioned. Makes for a crappy person, but will win football games.
