I swear I've spent years tripping out on basketball refs aka analyzing them.
1 they have to act sure about stuff they are unsure about, for instance, there has to be a call when the dribbler and a defender collide- but even if unsure they have to act sure- this messes with their heads and makes fans turn against them
2 since they can here all the ridicule, they become vindictive- or overly concerned about being fare.
who knows, someone could have lobbied against all the shoving simmons was doing and the guy got all sensitive

And hoops is the hardest of the sports to officiate and IMHO it's not even debateable.
Teams just have to take the mentality to adapt and overcome, and also realize on the road percentages dictate the road team is going to get the short end the vast majority of the time. Accept it, and build in to your system that winners overcome it, losers whine about it.

Both were horrible calls from court-side. The Tigers had the ball, headed up-court a full second before the shot-clock horn went off. On the 4th Simmons foul, Taylor(I think his name was) hooked his arm through Simmons' and then jerked it away; smart play by Taylor but one of the three refs should have seen if for what it was. At least two of the calls on Victor were phantom calls. Nice job by the Tigers and by JJ for choosing to go small and zone down the stretch. The move clearly confused the Tide players for some reason.
