Way too early football talk

If you read between Les Miles talk it sure looks as if "that is if things stay the way they are" Jennings is going to be the starting QB again in 2015.
What do you think our record will be in 2015 if that is the case?
Comments from Mike Detillier today;
"Bottom line, Scott, is that the quarterback issue remains on this team"
" For Brandon Harris to win the job outright, he will have to do it on the field. Les feels comfortable with Anthony Jennings because right now he is more comfortable in the scheme and will not take chances out on the field."
"What that tells me is that the offense will stay, for the most part, the same. It is not Cam Cameron's offense."
LINK
If Jennings is our starting QB again this year look for every team to again stack the box against us and dare Jennings to beat them. I hate to say this but with all the talent we have, I don't think we do better than 9-3 with Jennings the starting QB.

I don't mind a similar type offense to the one we ran late in the season. We were much more explosive when we tested the edges with the jet sweep out of the I formation.
AJ needs only be incrementally better on short routes. We sometimes forget in his struggles that he throws a pretty good deep ball and fade. Hopefully he gets more efficient on the short stuff and the defense becomes more opportunistic in terms of turnovers and negative plays.

I agree with this post.

The offense we ran late in the season was due to us playing shitty defenses. If we tried that crap on Bama or Ole Miss last year, it would have been stuffed. Except for the throws to the TE's. They are always open despite who we play.

Same offense with Jennings
Well expect a minimum of 3 losses

Until Les stops being afraid of letting his QB (Harris or Jennings) make plays in the passing game, neither the offense nor the QBs will ever thrive.
The game plan is the same EVERY GAME:
Run, run, run;
Take a few limited "safe" shots in the passing game with the hopes of hitting a big play or two
Avoid doing anything that may increase the risk of a turnover
Hope (expect?) the defense to keep the game tight throughout
Win late in the 4th Quarter
Rinse and repeat.
The problem is when you are content to constantly play on the razor's edge sometimes the plays are going to go against you at the end. Like clockwork, LSU seems to always have at least 2 games each season that go that way.

It's still way early. Here is my take on this:
If Jennings starts, that's fine. These coaches make millions of dollars and they aren't going to let someone play just because... If Jennings starts he earned it.
From all the twitter chatter about our defense, I think we are going to be better than anyone could have imagined. Our secondary is going to be one of our best units since 2011.
Our running game will not be able to be contained. Plane and simple. We will average 225+ a game on the ground and that will win us just about any game we want.
I think our defense rises to the occasion this year and we will compete in every game and will be there at the end.

This sounds about right. If Harris improves at some point and takes over the offense, this team will be really good. If not, we will still have a pretty good season.

No Mike didn't forget that in his comments;
"But LSU doesn't do that well. What they do pretty good is throwing it deep, but you don't have a high accuracy rate on those deep throws."
The key to that statement is highlighted in bold!!!!

We most certainly did not add just one play. The quarterback run packages alone boasted, to my count, 6 different plays ran out of about 3 or 4 new formations. One thing that we ran after Arkansas which we had not run previous to that game was what the announcers mistakenly called read option, but was actually more quarterback load. You can tell the difference because though the play has read action, the backside was blocked solid. It was a designed run that appeared to be read. Jennings piled up the yardage on this play in two games. We also ran a counter off that action with the back.
There is plenty of reason to be negative, but the idea that the improvement in the last two games was only because of one new play is dead wrong.

I should say, if Jennings wins the job that means Harris isn't where he needs to be yet. We all know Harris has the talent, just needs to put it all together.

Mike isn't the antecedent of "we" in my post. For all of your superficial detail in the correction, how did you miss that obvious difference?

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the coaches earn Millions of dollars last year and the one making the most millions on that coaching staff picked Jennings last year "because he apparently earned it" and look where that got us!!!!!!!!!!!
Incase you need a refresher - it was 8-5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Against good defenses "the SEC definitely has those!!!!" 8 & 9 defenders in the box will argue that point!!!!

Alt26 as much as I hate saying this, you are correct with your analysis!!!

Mike Detillier...don't care
Never understood the hype with Saints fans and LSU fans about his commentary. He is mostly making stuff up.

where's that one poster who came on here before the bowl and told us about a few of the offensive wrinkles that were added, and was pretty much 100% right? I need that guy back on here to get some real scoop.
not mad at Detillier's hustle of basically parlaying his "scout credentials" into posing as some type of insider, but his insights are basically observations a lot of us on here could make. c'mon Mike, get your boy Bebe to feed you some new stuff.

We didn't score a single point against Arkansas despite them having a bad defense, and Harris never came close to playing. That's everything you need to know about Jennings and Miles.
