I'd expect you to change it to TigerRANDALL since you are always on the backup bandwagon.

Lee looked great in several games, but Oregon wasn't one.

I'm still scratching my head about all of the love he gets for going 10-22 and 98 yards. Until the last drive, the first half was nearly as bad as the first half against Georgia.

He had been 3 years of getting minimal snaps with the first team until Shadygate happened 2 weeks before the game. Think that might have had a little to do with it?

Uh, no. The first half of the UGA game set a new low mark for "offensive" performances. We were putrid, and even that is being kind.

You never cease to amaze me.
JL had 6 dropped balls vs oregeon..
Only people who dropped footballs last week was uga defense.
Just quit if you cant at least say things that are at least half way true.

on the field

He does not handle it well. That's not saying he hasn't made a few good throws in his college career (Auburn 2008, Bama 2010), but generally when there's pressure he panics, sometimes throwing the ball away when a guy is 10 feet from him. If you watched the Bama game, watch his attempt at tackling Marc Barron on the INT. He essentially used himself as a cape in a bullfight. LSU has a physical team identity and you simply cannot do that and have any credibility as a player. Especially in that kind of game.

Dude's a solid QB, as good as Flynn

Maybe you'll understand how crazy this is next year when JL is not a solid backup to any NFL QB. Matt Flynn was mobile, delivered under pressure, and threw his body into the mix in big games. I know you want to support Lee, but it's insult to Matt Flynn, a clutch championship performer to say this.

quote:

He just shite the bed in the Bama game.

It wasn't the first time.

JL has some success in the first part of the year because LSU was so unbalances as a run team, and played a bunch of teams that they could dominate on the line, and for the first time, also decided to mix that up with play action. It was great then, but could not have worked against Alabama. JL was also so jittery he couldn't even complete a few 1st down passes off of that game.

I think this was huge; J Lee "knowing" that JJ was/is the favorite and always having it in the back of his mind that if he slips up, JJ is back in. Happened and happened fast. If JJ had not come back, I think we see a bit of a different J Lee in that game. He may still have gotten knocked around, but knowing that he HAD to get it done might have been a mental difference maker.

JJ was AWFUL in the SEC championship game. He was the QB that we saw most of last year in that game and I was ticked that J Lee wasn't given a chance in the game. Shows where Miles loyalty really lies.

You think Miles has JJ as a priority over winning?

Really?

Just say that to make it clear.

JJ was the starter...always was the starter. he was going to start again whether Lee slipped up or not.

Fair point.

Also a fair point. I was gobsmacked. That was literally Jefferson's/the Offense's worst half of football--career wise. But before the last drive of the first half against Oregon, I think we had like 60 yards of total production. Look it up. I may be wrong, but I do remember that it was terrible.

Where do you idiots get this shite. JLee was not a good qb in the Oregon game. He threw for 98 yards. I gues it's true, you see what you wanna see.

He played worse bc bama's defense is 100xs better than oregon's. Not because he was scared of getting pulled. If that's the case he doesn't need to be out there anyway.

some are able to go beyond the stat line in making their analysis...Given the situation, coupled with a couple of drops, Lee's performance gave everyone confidence that we may be ok with him at QB this season.

Key is "ok". He played fine. But everyone trots that game out like he went all Tom Brady out there. Screw the stats, I watched the game.

It's irrelevent. On balance, he did a fine job through eight games.

not really.
When someone says someone else earned something, I tend to look at what that person did to earn it... can you point to what JJ did the supercedes what JL did this season that indicates he earned the job over LEE?

Tigrlee, you can't be serious!

So in your mind, you're the universal arbiter for judging if someone has "earned" something!

As I said, and you agreed, this is a CLM decision!

I'm sure through whatever criteria he chooses, CLM believes JJ has earned his spot. There could be any number of factors that go into this decision... past game performance, performance in practice, scheme/game plan, off the field matters, or many other intangibles.

NONE of which CLM has to share with, or justify to you.

Let me put it this way, unless you're the judge at the beauty contest...It really doesn't matter which girl you think is the cutest!

Deal with it!

I like Lee, and I really respect him for being loyal to the program. And he deserves all the credit given to any other starter for the amazing year we've had. If he had transferred, we likely arent undefeated thru 8 games.

But if you watch him play, he picks his primary receiver at the line and is throwing to him no matter what. He is better than JJ at reading the coverage and identifying the receiver most likely to get open before the snap. He was also helped by the enormous respect paid to our running game, and by some pretty talented WRs.

But Bama was able to fool him with pre-snap coverage looks, and the rush definitely messed with his head.

JJ gives us another method to move the ball with his legs, and is just capable enough of a passer that defenses must respect it. Therefore, JJ gives us the best chance to succeed this year, which is why he was chosen the starter before the Shady's incident.

It would be great if the coaches could come up with some packages for Lee with all the prep time before the game, and I think there is a chance they will. Lee looks extremely unhappy on the sidelines, and I think the only way he understands the contribution he made to the greatest season in school history is to get some meaningful PT in the BCS. But we were fortunate to overcome those picks on Nov 5, and I'm not sure Miles wants to risk that again.
