Did you forget we actually played Florida and lost? Do you remember when Beckham fumbled after catching the deep ball late in the 4th? Thats when we lost our chance to play in the Sugar Bowl.

No I forgot, the point is winning close games against lesser opponents didn't keep us out of better bowls.

Plenty of blame ... muddy field, refs, Slive, Rant, Perriloux ... more likely, negatigers!

So your saying if we beat florida we are not in the Sugar?

No. I am saying that that is not when we lost an opportunity to play in the Sugar Bowl. If we had beaten Bama we still would had a good shot at the national championship, let alone the Sugar Bowl. And if UF had lost to FSU, we still could have gone to the Sugar Bowl. So no, when we lost to UF in week 6, the chances for the Sugar Bowl did not just go out the window.

The simplest way to have ensured a Sugar bowl berth would have been to beat Florida in Gainesville. Would it have mattered if we had beat Bama? Sure, we would have squarely been in the BCS game - assuming we beat UGA, no small feat for this years team. Perhaps we have been over-achieving this year...we will never know. But we had our chances and we lost them.

All of the highly TV rating games are because of ranking matchups, that doesn't change the fact that LSU is one of the better draws in college football.

Saying that LSU wasn't a good team besides the Bama and USCe games is beyond fricking retarded.

LSU handed the possible Heisman trophy winner his arse in his own stadium. He had 2-3 good drives at the beginning of the game and then didn't do shite the rest of the game. We also beat Missippi State by 20, we beat Washington by 38.

We went 10-2 and so did A&M. We beat them head to head. Therefore, we are ranked ahead of them. We are 4th in the SEC. Bama, UGA, UF, and us. I guess you could switch UF and UGA depending on how you want to look at it (UGA now has 2 conferences losses while UF has one)

There is a big difference in saying that LSU wasn't a slam dunk for 4th in the pecking order and the Cotton Bowl and saying that LSU just wasn't a very good team.

We are not a flashy team for tv offense is boring
You stole my idea. Give credit, but I guess that's asking for too much on here.

All well watched games are due to the matchup. The nation doesn't care about LSU if it's not vs a highly ranked opponent.

Style points matter, not sure if they would have helped here or not, but they wouldn't hurt. You do have to create interest from officials, and unfortunately LSU was lost in a quagmire of highly ranked SEC teams this year.

A&M got the marquis win and has the marquis player, which is why LSU isn't in Dallas/FW.

Listen dumbass, the potential Heisman trophy winner had to throw 3 INTs and still had a chance to mount a game winning drive in the last seconds of the 4th. Not to mention their kicker missed 2 FGs and it was early in the season. Was I delighted? Sure, I was beyond delighted..but I am also not going to sit here and forget how close we were to losing that one.
That Miss. State team we beat by 20 pts (we had a late TD that made it seem less close than it really was)??
lost to Bama by 31
lost to A&M by 25
lost to Ole Miss by 17
Sure hang your hat on beating a 7 win UW team. Ignoring how inconsistent we were from weak to weak; whether injuries/attrition played a part or not, is beyond fricking retarded.

In 2009, LSU had the highest rated non-BCS game (Capital 1 vs. PSU, 6.83 rating. The following year Capital 1 featured Alabama vs Michigan State, 3.69 rating

In 2010, LSU had the second highest rated non-BCS game (Cotton vs A&M, 5.81 rating). Kansas St played Arkansas in the following Cotton bowl, 4.95 rating.

Since 2003, LSU only had 1 bowl game with a TV rating below 5.22, 2008 Chick fil a against Georgia Tech, 3.9 TV rating.

LSU is a big TV draw.

Yep, I am the dumbass.

.

It was the 8th game of the season for us and the 7th for them. You call that early? Both seasons were more than half way over.

the Heisman trophy winner had to throw 3 INTs

I guess this had nothing to do with us being good and everything to do with him playing poorly.

the nation cares about very few games against lower ranked opponents.

Bowls are about injections into the local economy. Yes, they may be swayed some by their conference tie-in, or by their TV affiliate, but the bowl committees first comparison between 2 teams are economic ones.

New coach, new QB in a new conference and I will have to say that missed game was detrimental to A &M. So yeah it was early for that offense.

Your stupidity rears its fugly head, I never said our defense didn't make plays or they were bad. We had to catch a few breaks on top of the defense playing lights out to win that game.

Right, defense isn't responsible for turnovers
A&M had like 7 seconds to try to score.

Our kicker missed plenty of field goals this year, inlcuding 1 at A&M and 2 against Alabama. Does that mean we are better than our record?

Guess who gave A&M their biggest loss on the year? That's right LSU.

I forgot, our late TD's don't matter when discussing margin of victory but other teams' late scores do.

Cotton picked A&M for several reasons, and none of them were because they thought that A&M would draw less interest than LSU.

Having a Heisman contender and beating the top ranked team certainly helps.

I agree with that, however the cotton bowl didn't pass on LSU because of their games against Ole Miss and Arky to end the season or LSU being a bad TV draw as this thread suggested.

Cotton Bowl was ready and excited to pick LSU until it came out that Cap 1 was passing on them for UGA.
