re: Walker starting either game 1 or 2 a given?

I would go Lange and then Walker. If you need a 3rd starter, I would go with Gilbert.
We are very short of lefties and I would use Poche` in spots in possibly every game.
Bertman used to fiddle with the usual rotation when he got to the CWS, and it worked out pretty well for him.

Jesus Christ the recency bias with some of you.
You'd drop a 4 year starter for a guy that's only started a handful of games during his career, all because of what happened during Poche's last two outings?

Everyone is forgetting Caleb Gilbert. If Gilbert hadn't righted the ship last night IMHO, LSU would have been playing today with a 50/50 chance of not making the CWS.
My rotation: Lang, Walker, Gilbert, and Poche'.
Poche's last two outings were a disaster! No disrespect to Poche', because he has been great for the Tigers for 4 years. No one has contributed more and no one has been more dedicated to LSU during that time. Twice Maineiri has tried to get a win for Poche' to tie the all time LSU win record, however for some reason the pressure seems to gotten to him. This is about the team trying to win a NC. In both of Poche's bad games, LSU was lucky the opposition didn't have a pitcher who could shut down the Tiger bats. If we are to go all the way, we will have to play at least 4 games.
What a luxury to have Poche' to start a 4th game!

You don't need a 4th starter in the CWS. Lange will start the 4th game provided we make it that far.

That's where you went wrong.

So if Poche had two quality starts in the regional and super you would still be calling for Gilbert to replace him? Just out of nowhere you think it's a good idea to move Gilbert to third starter and relegate Poche to the pen?

I think if CPM pulls Poche out of the rotation, he is done at LSU.
Let him start his spot, tell him the expectations.
Pull him if he gets sideways.
Give him a Xanax and let him Rock Out in the zone. It is nerves, not talent. Fix the nerves and let the talent do what it does.

Nah, no way. Appreciate Gilbert for what he is and making this team more complete. He's an inning eater that can throw up 0's in the semi-rare case that one of the 3 starters can't go 6+ innings. That's extremely valuable. LSU now has 3 legit starters that can give you 7 innings fairly consistently, an elite setup/closer situation, and a guy that can eat up innings in the middle if need be. That's very rare for college baseball.

I think you stick with what got you here, both Lange and Poche had a bad inning a piece this past series and we still survived.
Ideally:
Lange vs. FSU
Poche vs. Oregon St
Walker vs. Oregon St
Lange vs. TCU
Poche vs. TCU
That is my prediction...

Its about as dumb as you thinking walker will start game 2

A little prickish aren't you, mate?
Posted on 6/12/17 at 5:40 pm to LSUminati
In his two postseason outings combined, Walker is 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA in 15.2 innings with one walk and 16 strikeouts.
That's just ridiculous!!
If it's me I'm starting him game 1 and give Lange to OSU

If you read the post, there isn't necessarily a suggestion that it's a move Mainieri will make, but rather whether Walker has earned the nod. It's not an absurd suggestion that Walker is our 2nd most reliable guy right now, and by extension worthy of a game 2 start, based off of statistics and recent trends. You can disagree but come with something a little less juvenile then well "tards." You're not accomplishing anything by pompously acting like you have superior knowledge about a game played by 18 year olds on a message board. Discussions like these are the point of these places.

I understand, but its 10 post a day about it, nothing personal just beating a dead horse.
And Poche will start game 2

I couldn't give a shite if Poche has gotten us to this point, strengths change throughout the course of the season. You go with the guys that have been pitching the best recently in the first two games. The way Walker has pitched he gives us a much better chance against OSU than Poche.

What's retarded is taking one line of my post out of context. If Poche is used in spots in every game, he can't very well be the 3rd starter now can he?
Posted on 6/12/17 at 6:18 pm to LSUminati
No way Manieri risk not giving Poche a change to pitch in Omaha.
LSU won't be in the loser's bracket for Game 2
