Not really. One run that I can recall.

Bama has always been suspect on the edges.

Saw this stat yesterday and it surprised even me (and I've watched every Bama game during this stretch):

Leonard Fournette has 10 rushes of 20+ yards outside tackles this year. Bama has allowed only nine runs of 20+ yards outside tackles the past 4 seasons combined.

Prepare to see all that change.

Y'all are gonna get hammered on the edges and up the middle.

It's not necessarily the big 20+ yard runs. It's the 5-10 yard runs that wear a defense down that is key.

I'd like to see Guice start, wear their front 7 down, then let LF7 smoke those fools.

This... put LF7 in to start the 2nd half. 200+ yards!

You aren't recalling very well then. I recorded two Bama games, UT and Georgia. Was just watching UT last night. UT definitely did well on the edges, in fact Hurd on more than one occasion just outran your linebackers to the corner and got good yardage(Hurd looks like a very nice player btw). Hurd's a real nice back, and faster than I thought..but still..Fournette will eat up those yards even faster. I think a big part of it was Bama was paying that extra half second of attention to Dobbs on the read option, and that won't be the case with Harris, so it might be Harris that has the big opportunities. That read option series attacking the edges looks like a perfect match for Bama. It will be interesting to see how much of that read option look LSU uses vs Bama, LSU has it, but they run a lot of other stuff..it's not as though it's their base offense.

I think Guise can be lethal in this game because he can beat Bama LB'S on the edge every play if he can get past the line. Fournette will try to run thru a few of would be tacklers but Guise will just run away from them.

I don't think you've watched these two running backs play. Guice seems to drawn contact more than Fournette, and Fournette is definitely more elusive than Guice. Plus Guice is second string; we're feeding the beast against Bama.

Jefferson used to give Saban some fits when we utilized the option.

I wouldnt expect Guice to get more than a handful of carries if the game is close so 70 yds is really pushing it imo.

Agreed, if there's ever been a game to give Fournette more work than normal it's this one. Guice only has more than 6 carries in one game and that was when Fournette sat for over a quarter. I don't see where he gets a lot of touches unless the game is decided.

What will happen in this game is that the LSU defense will expose the Alabama offensive line. Everyone That knows my predictions over the years know that I only evaluate the trenches in an attempt to predict the outcome of a football game. The LSU defense will determine the outcome of the game in my opinion. everywhere else we are pretty even. you guys have the best RB in college football and he can be a game changer on busted coverage but games are won up front. I bet Coker gets sacked 5 times at least and LSU will win this game in my opinion.

I see the game being about 23-17 LSU. But, I actually think LSU is better by about 21 points but this is the LSU/Bama game and it will be hard fought and Bama will keep it close I hope.

LF& is scary off tackle

Our guards pull really well, and having JDM back will help too.

they may pull 9 in the box, but it doesn't matter when we pull to one side. we still get good matchup of blockers to defenders

All of this. He is one missed tackle from being gone when we pull to one side and the WRs can hold up their one on ones.

Wipe your chin. Alabama has seen at least two defensive lines this year on par with or better than lsu, 3 if you count the ones in practice everyday. We're 1-1 in those games. Our offensive line isn't vintage Bama, but the lsu defensive line isn't vintage lsu. Both are talented, neither are exceptional.

Tennessee did have some success with read option plays, usually bouncing them to the outside.

There was one play before halftime where they were able to gash Alabama's D up the middle with Hurd. He eventually bounced that run to the outside as well.

Then on that fourth-quarter scoring drive, Tennessee was able to hit two big plays in the passing game. They faked the jet sweep on both plays. The score that tied the game was a 12-yard run to the outside.

The Alabama D-line and LBs are so good. It's tough sledding between the tackles. But when you play with that much size on the field, even though those guys are really good athletes, you're going to be vulnerable in spots with the right matchups in terms of quickness, agility, lateral movement, etc.
