For all who was saying it was a cheap shot, it was not. The catcher from ole miss and raph played together for 4 years. No way he was making a cheap shot on him.
They never played together. Turner is from Eunice and Rhymes is from Monroe. They weren't at LSUE at the same time either. Maybe they played summer ball together that I don't know about, but that's the only way they could have ever played together

* I also don't think it was a cheap shot

If he makes contact without the ball in the runner's path, that should be obstruction. The consequence would be to award the runner the base he is headed to.
The umpire made that call, and awarded Rhymes the base before he actually touched it.

if rhymes was safe anyway, then there is no call to be made
That may be how it gets recorded, but the ump was already signaling it before Rhymes made it to the plate.

Then the lifting the elbow to make sure he got a piece of the runner made it worse. I think the ump warned him, which is probably why Bianco came out of the dugout. It was a dirty play intended to make it look like just rugged baseball, but he planted in the path and could see the throw wasn't coming to that spot.
I noticed that elbow/shoulder the catcher set to put a hit on Rhymes, too. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "dirty" as it may have just been instinct when he saw the collision coming, but it wasn't purely innocent, "oh, I'm just here trying to catch a ball." He clearly set for impact as Rhymes was approaching and put on what would have been called a "hard screen" in basketball.
