cheap shot with the left elbow; Rhymes should have barreled him through the base path

It was not a cheap shot

I saw it live from behind the LSU dugout and it was chicken shite.

The catcher should have been ejected. He didn't have the ball and should have moved out the way instead of standing 6 feet away from the plate and form a human wall without the ball.

Rhymes should have ran through him btw

It was. Dude shouldn't be allowed to do that without the ball. It is the same as if a player slides into second base and doesn't attempt to slide into the bag, they slide into the fielder.

He obviously wasn't going to make a play on the ball so he just stood there and threw a cheap shot at Rhymes.

If he makes contact without the ball in the runner's path, that should be obstruction. The consequence would be to award the runner the base he is headed to. I did not see the game, but if rhymes was safe anyway, then there is no call to be made.

Watch the video without bias. He was going for the ball and was gonna try a swipe tag. Nothing dirty about it.

I understand he was trying to make a play but you can't just run up the baseline to catch the ball and run into a baserunner, that's called obstruction and the baserunner is safe anyways.

"The catcher should have been ejected"

No freaking way. The catcher moved up the line towards the ball.

Bad timing, but no way should the catcher have been ejected. He made a play on the ball, not Rhymes.

I watched it and I agree, it wasn't as malicious as it looked in the stands, however, from where the catcher stood, it wouldn't have matter because Rhymes beat the throw and the catcher was 6-8 feet from home plate in the base path

I might have overreacted but I hate Ole Miss and wish they would all get ejected

Looks like the catcher is making an attempt at the ball. Rhymes should have trucked him. That would have been the best way to protect himself.

This is what I was thinking. Rhymes had the right of way and should have lowered his shoulder and clocked him.
