Just wanted to let y'all know that if you plan to go to College Station via Houston on I-10 to US 290 that there are significant changes.

The best part is that you don't have to cross 5 lanes of traffic on 610 North in a mile anymore. Eventually you will have a dedicated flyover ramp, but now there is a temporary exit to that new ramp on the RIGHT.

Just stay in the right 2 lanes as you exit from I-10 to I-610 north and a mile later your lane will have to use the temporary exit to the new ramp.

US 290 is still an obstacle course for 20 plus miles to Waller. Driving a RV through there is risky as the lanes are narrow. I would almost go on SH 105 from Beaumont to Navasota.

Hope this helps and see y'all in College Station. Beat the Aggies!

You can use DriveTexas for updates on construction zones, road closures, etc.

Have a safe trip, folks.

I've done 290 in my big rig. Ain't too bad if you use the middle lane.

I recommend I-10 to the Grand Parkway North (99) to 290. You avoid all of the construction and issues such on 290.

NOTE:if you have a toll tag. Otherwise go OP route.

I'd avoid this area. With Holiday traffic, take a longer route around and get to your destination in the same time or quicker with less stress.

I'm using Grand Parkway as I live in Sugar Land & miss most of the construction, but wanted to help our traveling Tigers.

Safe travels

I've never been so nervous on a major highway in my entire life during rush hour.

99 Grand Parkway N is only on the west side of Houston, so if coming from BR, this isn't an option. Take 105 off I-10 these days because there's a lot of construction on 45, 610, AND 290.
Or, drive from BR via I-10 to Sam Houston Pky (Beltway 8) N and take feeder/access road if u dont have an EZTag), lots of stop lights, but less
traffic)

Taking 249 and meeting up with 105 if you're coming from the north side of Houston.

That's the ticket from Louisiana. And it's a nicer drive. There is a new loop around Cleveland and It slows down getting into Conroe. Take the north loop just east of Conroe and you end up again on 105 west of Conroe.

This is great info. I took 105 last week to Navasota and it's a breeze. Much better than 290
