I think you're thinking of Hallman in '93. They had 2 backs go for over 100. Cost us a bowl bid. 98 we lost at arky to go 4-7. 99 we won with Hal Hunter as the interim and he had enough foresight to start Roban, who flat out up the pigs.
Thank you...you're right. My memory is fading as I grow older. I just looked up the schedules and it was Hallman in '93. I'll edit out.

Then I remembered he receives about $100k every 2 weeks after taxes and I got over that quickly.
Winner.

The majority of the problems that Miles is having right now are the result of his own doing. Why should I feel sorry for him?

Well my thoughts are he has had years to figure this shite out and he has failed, so I have no sympathy for him, the team yes! JMO

Not everything is about money. If anyone on this board doubts that losing doesn't affect Miles, I don't know what to tell you. Reading this board you would think Miles enjoys losing.

Good, maybe hell pull his head out of his arse and do something different.

No reason to feel bad for the guy. He's become a rich man doing the thing he loves the most. He's had a lot of success, too. If he were to retire now, he'd be the winningest coach in LSU history behind only McClendon, with a much better winning percentage than McClendon. He'd have coached 1 of only 3 national championship teams at LSU. He has been at the pinnacle of the sport as a head coach. If the game has passed him by, at least he was able to accomplish more than 99% of coaches out there while he had his time.

Ok...then we agree to disagree. I can respect your opinion, but I feel that Miles, either through action or in some cases inaction, has created the predicament that LSU is in right now. He is the head man, and therefore the buck rightfully should stop with him. If anyone can fix this mess, he can, but he first has to admit there is a problem and he seems reluctant to do that. That's been the case with him for years.

My unsettling feeling is not about Les Miles... he gets big bucks to deal with anything that comes his way.
I'm unsettled that he's now driven this program into high-priced mediocrity, with not enough vision and smarts to turn it around.

I like Les Miles, the person.
I don't like his current coaching philosophy.
He was part of some of the great high moments in LSU football history.
He has reached a point where there seems to be nothing left.
He doesn't seem really hungry. His teams just don't have that intangible something that makes for consistent success.
I wish he would graciously step down at the end of this season, so we could all celebrate his tenure and honor the man's truly great achievements as HC of LSU.

very true, but unless CLM pulls a pp7 or honey badger out of his arse so that his defense/special teams can bail out the offense, the future doesn't look clear.
I'm still and always will be a big supporter of all things LSU (before you berate me for being critical), but losses that look like the team from top to bottom essentially quit is not good.
I would not say the same about 2008. Things were not the best, but this has a different feel to me.

Excuse me - the worst fan base in the SEC? Obviously you have never lived in Alabama. No one on the planet has a fan base quite as rabid as Bama. Not even the Longhorns.
Les is not the problem in as much as how he coaches the offense is the problem. Considering the level of talent he has every year, the offense should be much more competitive every season. Les doesn't seem to coach towards championships as much as he coaches not to lose. That's a horrible mindset for a head coach at one of the top tier programs in the nation.

Imagine if Les had the team at 2-8 one year
There's no way in hell les could go 2-8 with our schedule this year....even the bad schools in the SEC schedule so that they win at least 3 or 4 a year. Even Vandy won 3 games this year and I've NEVER seen a team in the SEC as bad as them this year.

Yeah, we were 2-8 going into the game and beat #17 Arkansas 35-10. Pretty glorious game. That was actually a year that we lost a lot of close games.. 22-23 against Georgia, 16-17 against Mississippi St., 17-23 Against Alabama

That '93 game is crab in my mind. Was at my grandfather's in Tx for thanksgiving. Was so disappointed.

Looking at that, we have it pretty good right now.

The only time I can remember it being close to this bad from a fan enthusiasm perspective is during the last stages of the Dinardo era. I keep telling myself we have some great young players but the coaching (or lack thereof) is really concerning me. Miles looked the most dejected I've seen him in the Arky post game interview. Age considering, I have this feeling his tank is starting to run dry. I know a lot of LSU fans don't like Miles and welcome this but in spite of the money he makes, I feel bad for him. Just my thoughts on a Monday afternoon.
Saturday was a terrible, terrible, terrible game.
That said, the overreaction on this board is unbelievable.

I think Mile's is just as baffled by Jennings as we are. My guess is he's not playing like he practices. They've probably been waiting for him [Jennings] to turn the corner with his game performance, and it's finally dawning on Miles and Co. that this isn't going to happen. Unfortunately, it may be a bit too late.
This could be it, who the frick knows though.
