“We had a guy coming off the edge that’s supposed to play it,” Saban said. “If everybody executes and does what they’re supposed to do, that wouldn’t be an issue.”

This is the main reason I like Miles, he doesn't say stuff like this. Miles gave all the credit in this game to the players and said he was proud of each and every young man on the team and was honored to be their football coach. Of course the players are going to make mistakes. There isn't game in football history that players didn't make mistakes. How about a little humility and take the high road saying LSU called a great play and caught us off guard? How about saying LSU had its BEST offensive game against YOUR defense. The way I see it, YOU were out-coached pal. Sleep on it.

Every coach says this kind of stuff.

it isnt throwing a player under a bus, its just holding your players responsible.

Sure, Nick, not your fault at all, because you saw it coming. Freakin outstanding. Classic Nick Saban.

And the usual "media hasn't helped us focus properly this year" comments after the game...

Nick Saban has never once taken any responsibility in any loss in his entire career. He will always blame it on players not being prepared or not executing.

right, and saying Rueben shoulda caught the INT vs. Auburn isn't the same thing?

coaches say stuff like that. it'll be ok.

yep that was my favorite until I see this about the 4th down trick play.

He blames yesterday's loss on going undefeated last year. Gotta love Nick.

It's defense 101. The backside End or LB depending on the defense is always supposed to watch for the reverse. Theres' no bus, he's just stating facts. These aren't high school kids. They can handle some criticism.

The comment assumes that they knew the play was coming, which I highly doubt. Sure, coaches always say that the players didn't execute, etc. However, Saban had the opportunity to answer the question neutrally or at least with a little class. I'm sorry, he did not know that play was coming and just got caught on that specific play. Call it like it is.

He acts like the play was a fake pitch and a QB bootleg. But that was not the case. There is no way he saw anything like that play coming.

Ive never liked Sabans interviews. His hubris is all encompassing. And he often makes little sense and never gets called on it.

He said pretty much the exact same thing about Randle's missed catch against AU.

He also said they didn't deserve to win if they let Randle get open as he did on that play.

Not even close to the same thing. A WR dropping a catch that turns into an INT is on the player. An entire team being fooled by a trick play on 4th and 1 is on everyone, not just the DE or LB who played the power run instead of the reverse that no one could've predicted.

Even in high school coaches teach staying home in case of a reverse. What Saban said is the truth so that's why I don't have a problem with that statement. However, Miles deserves credit for seeing that the Bama guy wasn't staying home and called a great play.

Part of being a coach is also being a teacher. Saban demands perfection. Nothing wrong with what he said.
