Okie State should have played, not Bama. If you reverse the outcome in 2011 I don't see LSU getting a rematch.
Exactly. If LSU loses on the road to Bama that season, hell even if the game had been in Baton Rouge, then won out, LSU would not have been given the mulligan like Bama. Saban got a huge soapbox to stand on to promote his team by being on the set of the SEC Championship broadcast while his and Okie St.'s teams sat idle. Gundy didn't get that platform to speak.
Also, if the word Oklahoma was only followed by "University" rather than "State University," Bama probable doesn't get the rematch. (Saying that if everything else was equal but it was OU rather than OSU, OU would have gotten in ahead of that Bama team that lost to LSU.) And let's not forget that the OSU-ISU game was on a multiple overtime game, on a short week, in a week where multiple people from the OSU athletic department died in a plane crash. You'd figure they would have been some consideration over a Bama team that lost at home to a division rival which prevented them from playing for a conference championship game.

Agreed, but because it was Iowa State they didn't cut Okie state any slack. They blew out everyone else though.

I think we are putting the cart in front of the horse. Can we just wait and see how the team looks after a few games?
don't you just love the downvotes for this comment, which was entirely rational?
God forbid we actually wait to see what happens on the field.
On this board, you have to predict 15-0 or you're labeled a negatiger, a horrible fan, or a miserable human being.
I'm like you, Nawlins. Hoping for a big year, but let's take a deep breath until we see what we do on the field.

Miles has at least some fault too. He should have campaigned against Bama. I know it looks bad and he might have been told by the SEC office to not do it but he should have come out and said Bama had their shot at home and we beat them. Give us somebody else. Beating a Saban coached team is hard to do once in a season and impossible to do twice. Les is a competitor and probably thought he could beat them again. I thought the same too but looking back all this time later LSU never had a shot in that game.

Would LSU have still made the championship game in 2011 had they lost the SECCG? I doubt it.
Right - Bama would have faced Okie State.
But, if Bama had beaten us in the regular season and lost a close SEC-CG? They would have gotten in anyway because of "optics" - it's all corrupt bullshite, but it is what it is.

but if LSU wins on 11/5 and Bama doesn't lose another game, then I think it will.
It was stupid then. It would be stupid now.
Even Saban lobbied against teams not winning their conference being in the championship. When that argument suited him of course.
He's probably the one starting this stuff.

And if you don't project an 8-5 then you are a delusional positiger and Miles backer and are ironically repeated dumb quote about insanity from Einstein. It goes both ways. Majority of this board is in a wait and see approach as it should be.

We are getting way ahead of ourselves but if LSU gets in the playoff that's all that matters. However, I think Bama loses 2+ and LSU beats them by double digits this year so that would eliminate them.

I just don't get it. Even if you are cautiously optimistic. If you follow the program, even a little bit, you know we have one of the better teams (talent wise) that we have ever fielded. There is a lot of positive buzz going into the season... You can't be a logical fan, much less a fan at all, if you honestly think we lose 3 games this year. At that point, you're a fricking retard.
