"One person did enter the water and pulled Everett several feet but stated that he is not a good swimmer and was struggling to stay afloat," the report said. He stated that when he looked back, Everett had gone under and did not re-surface

This poor guy is going to be haunted by this for the rest of his life. Such a terrible situation. I can't imagine having to play baseball today as a teammate, let alone being a parent.

To the family, all the Vandy fans, and entire Vandy alumni. Please accept our heart felt sympathy and our unwavering prayers for the young man and your bereavement in this difficult time. No words can justify or calm the heat in this tragedy . Only time and reflection.

When someone is in the water and asks for help, a good rule of thumb is to assume they are not joking. Also don't send a weak swimmer to the rescue unless no one else is available.

People forget that water is deadly. Sucks, man.

Gonna be a very difficult weekend for the team and fans.

Too bad it wasn't the whistler.

Sick post. Tasteless. No joking matter.

It would have been extremely difficult for anyone besides a trained lifeguard or excellent swimmer to save him. Trying to swim while carrying a 6'2" 230 man is an almost impossible feat without a flotation device. The other young man should in no way blame himself
