In the same season.

Yeah, I'm getting WWAAAAAYYYYY ahead of things, but that just hit me earlier.

Fortunately we get the first matchups with each at home. Likely can afford to lose to UGA, but we cannot lose to Bama (the first time) if we want to make a playoff.

LSU will have to win the SECW and likely rematch UGA in the SECCG in Atlanta.

LSU would have to win that game for the right to a possible rematch with the SEC third place team, Bama, in the playoff.

Damn. That's tough.

Lsu just needs to split Uga and Bama and win the rest

We could play UGA three times potentially

If LSU runs the table, they’re the only SEC playoff team. The CFP will NOT put two SEC teams in again. No way no how.

Big10 champ
Sec champ
Big12 or Pac12 champ
ACC champ

That’s the formula period.

This x100^^^^

Beat bama lose to Georgia at home. Rematch with Georgia in Atlanta. That’s ideal right there. Winning the West means you gotta beat the tide. You can lose to Uga and it not effect your west standings.

Bama would have the benefit once again if not playing in the SEC Championship game AGAIN....

They would have to beat Bama to win the west and then you likely play UGA again in the SEC Champ. Im betting if Bama goes 11-1 with their only lose to LSU in tiger stadium they will still make the playoff. Meaning you likely have to play Bama again to win it all. Going 3-1 against those two teams would be insanely difficult.

Even if it means keeping Bama out? I don’t think so.

If that happens, then we have a worse post season system than before the CFP.

Oh you naive fool. If Alabama wins the SEC that’s the formula but if they are 11-1 and don’t play in the SECCG they will get in cause “eyeball test” or we want the “best” teams. They won’t leave Saban and Bama out of the playoffs

Most likely scenario to get to the SECCG, IMO. Lose to Georgia in the regular season, but win the West outright, or in a three way tie breaker. Beat Georgia in the rematch in the SECCG. Go to playoff.

Bama is in. Nothing will change that.

How so?

Beat everyone on our schedule except UGA. They go undefeated and we play them in the SEC championship game, beat them. Then we can play them again in the playoffs. 3 times. Not probable but it’s possible.

It's such bullshite that Bama pretty much gets an automatic playoff spot because of their reputation and what they've done in past years. Leaving out teams deserving of a spot that have accomplished more than them that given year.

For arguements sake, how many games would Alabama have to lose to be out? Three? I think a two loss Alabama is in.

I watched parts of 8 or 9 games yesterday. Every announcer, on every game, was all about Alabama. The love for Alabama knows no bounds.

I think beating Georgia and a loss to Bama might be enough. Our schedule is stronger than both and if we beat Georgia, they will not have an argument head to head or on basis of schedule.

Really easy to get in if that’s our only loss and Oklahoma and Ohio State slip up. Clemson looks like they will slip up too.
